i don't think they're sarcastic in the beginning. stephen thaught her and she used the exact same intonation, mimicking what he taught her. :) later she probably noticed that there were other ways, so she became more flexible - also later she might have gotten the concept more and started saying it when the emotion of gratitude appeared (which she probably needed to identify first, through time), thus making it sound "genuine" to us - cuz she was now saying it tied to the emotion, not tied to the societal convention/custom Stephen taught her! ^.^

The Watermelon Stevens fighting Malachite will always make me think of Greg's words in The Return: "Gems were destroyed, and people too." While the Crystal Gem Rebellion was mostly Gem on Gem, it would not surprise me to learn that some humans also fought alongside Rose to protect their world. "And nothing of value was lost"...I've heard that before on reactions to Jasper's disappearance!

Ah, season 3, easily my favorite season of this show by far. That Malachite vs Alexandrite fight is so awesome, best anime fight. Honestly the most insane thing is, that Jasper was only able to take over, because Lapis was finally tired. Just shows how strong Lapis is.

​@@_cranI mean Steven doesn't have a TON of big fights like that one. Just two massive fussions flexing their full range of abilities on each other, I think it's one of the best fights of the show. Spoilers ahead I would only put Pink Steven vs Jasper above it, and also every fight including Stevonnie is top tier. Garnet vs Jasper and Amethyst vs Pearl are on a different tier just because of narrative greatness.

it didn't hit me until my most recent rewatch, but watching mirror/ocean gem, i was like....wait....lapis is CRACKED. her gem is CRACKED. we saw what a crack did to amethyst in less than a day, but lapis was cracked and put in the mirror and once she was out, she remained fully formed and could use most of her powers and fight and beat the gems. like. that's insane. but knowing that a lapis is meant to terraform makes it make a lot more sense; to actually terraform, you have to be crazy powerful, so lapis is clearly a strain of gem that is OP as fuck.

* I really like how they ended the last season and started this one. The last season gave us the message "regardless of the giant anime fights, this show is about peace and love on the planet Earth." This season starts with the message, "also, yes, giant anime fights." * It kind of bothers me how casually they kill of watermelon Stevens. Despite the fact that they don't talk, the show makes it clear that they have thoughts and feelings, fears and aspirations. And then they're killed off for comedy. It's just a little odd. * A neat callback to last season: Steven taught Peridot that when someone gives you a gift, you say "wow, thanks!" She said that in the second episode. What was the gift Steven gave her? Love!

And I don’t think many people know this, but the statue they worship in their little town is actually Baby Melon who helped to stop all the violent fighting in the episode they first appeared in by sacrificing himself, so I guess the Watermelon Stevens sacrifice other melons in his honor.

Out of the gems, Peridot is my two favorites. (Peridot and Amethyst) She went from being a homeworld villian to a earth hero. Some of her lines are the best, as she is using her 'logic' to define things on earth. Steven is coming into his own, no longer some helpless baby who is just in the way to a gem of his own. I like how all the characters evolve and change. None of them stayed the same, regardless if it is a main character or a minor one. Even Sadie, Lars, Reynaldo and the other background townsfolk have matured/changed.

I love the detail that unstable fusions don’t have their own voice, Alexandrite rarely does since it’s four gems trying to coordinate, and Malachite never does because they are so toxic.

The watermelon couple at 1:14 reappears for the battle at 4:40 (not shown because of editing) with the mother going off for war and the father melon staying behind. I find it not just funny, but interesting in how Steven's life that would be the norm for him, the gems go off for battle but his father is usually avoident of gem fights.

Steven is a very compassionate person and his powers r tied to his emotions. So it's no wonder that 1 of those powers is being able to enter the mind of others to communicate. The cluster is just a bunch of people that want to return their life, they seek someone's company just to feel alive again. Andd Steven just showed them alternative way to do that. And I think that's beautiful.

I love how the shards are like "want to", "need to". I imagine how our cells work to a primordial level, they are not exactly "alive" but they are build with instructions they "need" to do. And that's how also bad things can happen when those instructions even that are not evil, they just keep doing their function, forming cancers and tumors. The cloister just want to do what it's pieces are designed to: create a sentient gem, it doesn't know is destroying a planet in the process, it just doing what it "needs" to do.

Alternating between Sugilite’s flail, Sardonyx’s hammer, and Opal’s bow in one big combo to finish the fight sends chills every time. I also like how they give full focus to the cluster/peridot redemption plot line for so many uninterrupted episodes that it’s easy to nearly forget about Alexandrite… the Earth’s second biggest threat.

Gem fusions always have the gems placed where thr base gems had them so pearl and garnet fusing would have a gem on the forehead and one on each hand, the weapons each fusion uses is also a combination of the weapons thr base gems use, pearl and amethyst use a spear and whip and their fusion opal uses a bow, -the bowstring being amethyst whip and the front part being pearls spear 🥰

About Steven being able to connect to the Cluster: I think when gems fuse it creates a sort of "fusion space" that Steven can access thru his dreams - so far in his dreams he has connected with Malachite and the Cluster, and both are depicted as a sort of space where individuals can interact (possibly it's not literal but the show has to convey things somehow). Maybe unstable fusions leave more gaps that make it easier for Steven to get in. Altho the Cluster hadn't fused yet…but they were right on the verge. and we're already physically fused.

Similarly to season 5 where before Rose gets revealed as PINK DIAMOND like the episode where garnet explain the not so true anymore story of rose to the off colors the upper left dude was already thinking that rose is pink I don't believe he even said why he thinks that...
