A fun fact, because your comment reminded me of it by being about both LGBTQ and rulers: There is a thing called a "lesbian ruler" which is meant to bend and form to the exact shape of a line you want to cut, used for masonry and the like. They are called lesbian rulers because the specific malleable lead they were made from originally came from the isle of Lesbos, the same place the poet Saphho came from who is the reason lesbian is the term used for wlw relationships.
