Mike always seems to be the most creative, Jamie always seems to be somewhere between creativity and insanity, and Barry always seems to have taken some form of hallucigenic mushroom about three hours before the start of taping and it's at full effect during the video.

I think Mike and Barry are more creative, but Barry often pushes his ideas into impracticality. Jamie usually is the most skilled and knowledgeable of the three, but his ideas for dishes are not very creative. Mike seems to strike a balance, and his flaw is that sometimes he is way too ambitious for his own good. I don't think Jamie's idea in this video is the most creative out of the three, but it is solid simple idea (with a flawed execution).

@@franciscodetonne4797 Jamie is a "creative but in the box" kind of cook. He takes normal (to him) dishes and tries to add something else. Mike will do whatever he's been doing at home, whether it's creative or safe depends on his mood. Barry just thinks "What could I put on Instagram that would get the most likes?" and does that regardless of his ability to make it work out.

@shepshape2585
@shepshape2585 11 ай бұрын
The problem, at least as I see it, is that the cooking time between the fish and the "chip" is vastly different. Either the potato wrapping is going to be nice and crispy and the fish is going to be way overdone, or the potato is going to be soft and the fish done perfectly.

Tip for piping: Squeeze with your hand that’s holding the bag shut at the top, I promise it’s an absolute game changer. When you squeeze with your hand that’s close to the nozzle/tip, it makes it really difficult because you have to squeeze harder, your piping will be inconsistent since you’ll have less control, and you’ll keep having to stop to get whatever you’re piping down towards the tip again. When you squeeze from the top, you’ll have so much more control, consistency, a much easier time, and you barely have to stop at all. You barely have to apply pressure that way. Try it next time and you’ll be blown away by how much of a difference it makes.

The boys haven't refined themselves enough to be called it, but they certainly think like chefs now. Mike trying to share a new technique he's recently been trying to perfect. Jamie taking known dishes and flipping them on their head. And Barry coming at it from a completely different direction to surprise people. The finesse and little tricks chefs use to keep things from going pear shaped need to be learned, but they're farther along than most.

Jamie's fish in chips idea when he first said it honestly made me think a lot of korean corndogs, where they're coated in actual (often crinkle cut) french fries

I loved these unplanned videos! It reminds me of the old ultimate battles, but honestly with even more impressive cooking from the boys! It feels like they're not just making a recipe the food team developed, but they actually understand what they're doing!

Potato starch powder isn't very British. Can't really get in UK. Probably raided the Swedish shop

This one felt like a foregone conclusion from the moment Mike successfully got his giant curly fry into the oil, and especially after he flipped it. The others are good in concept, but Mike's just felt like a home run idea from the jump. I would have been stunned, even before Ebbers tasted the three, if it had not won. (Though Jamie's idea, in particular, feels pretty genius and I'm surprised I haven't seen it done anywhere before. Barry's could work if done well, too, since it's not too far removed from, for example, dipping a french fry into a Frosty at Wendy's.)

The unplanned battles are great! Mike's dish was intriguing and elote flavor is so good, Jaime could have used shaved waffle fries for the fish coating and it would have been perfectly crispy, Barry - wow, that was a Pass It On mess.

Loving these unplanned battles. Reminds me of the old old Ultimate Battles which I miss dearly. You remember the ones with costumes and general rambunctious-ness? (Barry getting chilli spice down his drawers, ring any bells anyone?)

Hey guys! Got a cool idea: Umami battle/challenge. Feed the normal dishes that had plenty of umami in them and have them guess what the source of umami is. And in a battle have them create a dish jam packed with as much umami as they can put in!
