Hey Sorted Team! Love the homegrown herb comments and herb enthusiasm from Ben. My place is tiny too and I, and many others, in places small or large, with maybe just a few feet of communal garden, would LOVE a video and advice re how to nurture homegrown herbs in the UK or other non-sunny places (or one video for different climates). Mine just wilt & die on the window ledge - some are in supermarket pots, some in water jars, some I plant in their own pots, but not sure which ones I should crop or pot, or why. I won’t blame you Ben if you give me advice and any die - as there are so many, and we all live in different climates - but I just know you adore herbs and I want to know how to give them the best chance to live and flourish longer and how to use them at each stage of life. Honestly, such a better attempt than last time. There was 3-4 that was kinda shoehorned in : - Unsalted butter - Xinomavro (wine) - Williams pear - Herbs (given the opportunity to use the last ingredients, this would have been honey drizzled on top of the frangipane) But, honestly, I don't think it broke the spirit of the challenge too much.

You can't do this without shoehorning anything in. You just can't. You want a creative challenge, you get creative solutions.

Instead of using mint as a herb I think I would have drizzled Hot Honey on his cake.

Yes, but he wasn't allowed to use honey this time around, because he used it in the previous alphabet challenge. Mike set that rule right from the start of this one.

Homegrown herbs are great! During the cooler months, on the hutch on the top of my desk sits a winter boot tray, and about 20 herb containers. With a grow light the herbs are consistent - and the cost of energy to run the light works out to less than buying one package of fresh herbs.

Definitely a Pass, great job Ben! I was happy with the first attempt but it was fun to see him do it again. Also, I completely agree with prioritizing the wine rack placement instead of the microwave.

He used honey in the last one so he was not allowed to use it again, but some roasted hazelnuts would have fit this dish quite well :)
@tunneloflight4 күн бұрын
@@KettenSyndicate You are right. I forgot. Hazelnuts would be perfect. Or add Harissa to the main. Or Herbes de Provence. Or a glass of Horchata to go with the desert. Or sliced Honeycrisp Apples with the desert for crunch and flavor.

Of course he won this! He won the last one too! Unbleached baking paper and homegrown herbs were obviously jokes - unsalted butter or honey would have worked just as well. We know he knows that. Ben doesn't get enough appreciation these days...

No he didn’t. Unsalted doesn’t exist and salt is not an ingredient anyway.
@matte54044 күн бұрын
@@RiverDanube What do you mean unsalted butter doesn't exist? lol
@RiverDanube4 күн бұрын
@@matte5404 Unsalted butter does exist. It's butter that has no salt in it or butter that is not salted. Unsalted is not an ingredient of itself.
@matte54044 күн бұрын
@@RiverDanube Yes but "unsalted butter" IS an ingredient in of itself. unsalted butter is different than salted butter. It's like claiming garlic butter is the same as regular butter. Or for an example that was part of the video, ground almonds or almonds, ground. Or pureed tomatoes vs tomatoes.
@RiverDanube4 күн бұрын
@@matte5404 Okay. I checked what else could be bought as unsalted and the list includes unsalted popcorn, unsalted peanut butter, unsalted cashews, unsalted mixed nuts and the list goes on. But also, since salt is not on the ingredient list then stating whether an ingredient is salted or unsalted is a non issue.
