In the states, they call what Ben made a patty melt not a burger. Why do they struggle so hard with the concept of a burger. It’s a Glutinous bun with ground beef + toppings
@MRProduction8003 жыл бұрын
@@bill-or-somthingbill4390 Burgers don't have that strict of a definition and how people define a burger varies wildly. If you noticed, Ben even referred to his as a patty melt. In the context of what they are doing, it seems perfectly fair for the patty melt to be considered a burger since the framework they are going with is a beef patty between slices of bread. That said, you can find all sorts of instances where the bread is different or completely replaced with a different option, for example, lettuce for those looking for a less carbed burger. There is no good reason to gatekeep "burger" since they already come in so many variations that someone is likely to take issue with. At the end of the day just enjoy your food and have a good time.

@etienne81102 жыл бұрын
Actually you don't need a second eggyolk. Another option is to have custard in a bowl and treat your failed mayonnaise like oil and just start emulsifying around the custard. Failed emulsion is due to a bad ratio of protein/fat, the eggyolk has some protein to correct the issue, but mustard is enough. This save you from having one more egg white to deal with afterwards.
@justicegaming1412 Жыл бұрын
@@SheepdogSmokey The milk heating was only necessary because of the limited proof time. If you have more time to let it proof, you can let your milk come up to temperature in a more slow-paced fashion. Or go on the parenting blog sites and look up how to heat up milk in a microwave.

The question is wether the burger is >10x better than the cheap one or not, of course it will be the best, but is it 10x better? Wouldn't think so
@dr.albantross16863 жыл бұрын
@@hilotakenaka that’s because almost 30 pounds for one burger is pure insanity. A burger was a budget meal once upon a time. For that kind of money I would expect the best burger that was ever made. I if it isn’t that than it’s an automatic failure in my eyes.
@beccaroonie29463 жыл бұрын
The thing is, especially in this video, the boys go the extra mile to make the ‘unlimited budget’ item extravagant, where it should really just be their unrestricted choice. Jamie would never make this burger at home - I think a stepped up home meal would be fairer to judge on the same level as the budget burger, whereas this is luxury and pricey on purpose
@oyster27463 жыл бұрын
@@beccaroonie2946 but even when it's still a fairly normal meal like most of these while judging they go "Yea it's good but you made this with 1.50 so it's gotta win." I'm just not a fan of this particualr format i geuss

Jamie, I've never said this to another man but you have beautiful buns. I was starting to cry when you chopped up the tomahawk steak then grind it but after finishing the burger looked amazing. Both get a job well done. Next challenge budget vs unlimited budget pizza, fish & chips, chicken fingers perhaps something with pork. Great show!

Jamie needs to keep that sauce badge. Yes he got it wrong initially, but he knew how to save it. I would argue that is more knowledge than just knowing a recipe.

Not gonna lie, but when I saw burger and Jamie on the thumbnail, I was like "uh oh, this is going to be tough for Ebbers" 😳 No offense meant for Ben but we all know that Jamie is the literal meat guy 😆
@Aviertje3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but the beauty of the win is that he didn't win because of the meat, but he won because of the homemade bun. So Ebbers loss is not contentious at all, even though the better meat and ham and egg and cheese obviously made a difference. I was really afraid beforehand that Jamie couldn't win at all because with that much money spent, what the hell could the victory condition be? As _wasteful opulence_ is the definition of Jamie's burger and doesn't really allow itself to be distinguished, Ebbers could simply shine by reusing and combining ingredients to the max and easily stand out as long as he created something that is impressively tasty. Thank Jamie for the Bread.

Jamie’s burger looked really good but Ben’s had a bit of nostalgia for me. My parent’s rarely splurged on real burgerbuns when I was a kid because they often where expensive so using normal bread for toasting was cheaper plus you could use them for more than burgers. Heck we used them for hotdogs too, very versital kind of bread & often cheaper then other breads. This was probably a hard battle to judge, glad that I didn’t have to do it. 😁
