@Trista Fravel Not true. This is exactly how we dressed back then. Ain't no "costume" about it. I've watched lots of these Soul Train clips and seen jeans, skirts, one-piece jumpsuits, tube tops, floppy hats, platform shoes, and cardigans that I once had in my wardrobe as a teen.

Keep in mind that fashion designers were lining up to dress those kids. Also, those kids were pretty much the same week to week, and yet never got paid. All were aspiring professional dancers.

The Bee Gees, like many British Invasion groups embraced Afro-American music, & introduced to a wider audience. Like The Beatles, The Bee, Gees had fans in the Black community because of their embrace of R& B music, & their respect & honor for the artists of that genre. The Bee Gees bridged the musical gap between Blacks & Whites. Good music is good music no matter who is doing it. 🎸🎼

I was born in '71, and adopted in '73. I'm now 52. My (adopted) dad - rest his soul - was the only one I trusted and with whom I danced. My (adopted) mom on the other hand was and still is a covert narcisist (now 92 yrs old and dementia... and she now hates me even more ). LOVE your story! Hits home.☺

I found out the name of the woman dancing in the green ensemble at the start. Her name is Thelma Davis Martin. I think this particular dance partner is a Darrell Witherspoon. So much technique, style and class. I am very surprised you both did not dance for Ailey. Just the same thank you for sharing your talents! Awesome!
