Have you ever been to a concert and when the performance ends, the entire theater is silent for several seconds and then the thunderous applause explodes in an enormous emotional release? There are several of Home Free's videos that leave me speechless, breathless, and emotionally charged up. This one was a full body experience, like you said, head to toe. They pull you into the story with seductive harmonies, the setting creates the world that takes you away from life's diversions and the words, dear God the words, describe the experience of the story teller with devastating clarity. You feel their feelings and the journey they have taken. What an expressive reaction. It is good to know that others found this performance more affecting than words could describe.

New Subscriber here. I totally agree with Cheri's recommendation for you to react to Home Free's cover of "Helplessly Hoping". It is another example of Home Free's ability to respectfully cover a powerful, iconic song and somehow make it better. There is no beatboxing or flashy video, just pure vocal artistry. I love many of Home Free's lighter, flashier songs but the impact of their serious work continues to impress me.

This is a Home Free cover of the arrangement by Club For Five, a Finnish A Capella group. Tim asked them for the arrangement. Tuukka their bass sent it to them, then after hearing it, highly praised it. Home Free added were the echo sequences, and Tuukka thought it was wonderful and made it Home Free.

Indeed. You summed up how we (most of us) all felt when we heard this the first time - and when we heard it the hundredth time. It is a stunning, haunting arrangement, performed by a group of artists who blend perfectly into one voice. Whether they are clowning around, like in the Butts Medley, or singing sacred music (How Great Thou Art, and a whole bunch more), covering a classic hit with the original artist (American Pie with Don McLean), or saving lives (One Voice), they can do it all. Welcome to the Home Fries!

Another piece that hits your heart is Helplessly Hoping. Something one wouldn't expect from a "country" group, but I have come to associate with Home Free. Also, for fabulous harmonies, you really need to watch Go Rest High On That Mountain. Just be aware that if you plan to do Mayday, it would benefit you to become familiar with the guys for several videos. Then Mayday will be much more impactful. I'm subbing because I'm sure you're going to be (if not already) a bona fide Home Fry! Enjoy the journey down the Home Free rabbit hole!

I agree with you Soul. It’s a stunning version and so hauntingly beautiful. I loved Tim’s low notes…I’ve been to one of their concerts and his bass voice went through me and I was sitting in the mezzanine section! Loved the echoes. Loved the black and white film. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. Dire Straits version is beautiful and guitar driven where this is voice driven…just different but equally beautiful. Yep, Home Free can make you laugh or cry. They’re a great group. Helplessly Hoping, Mary Did You Know, One Man Band. Their harmonies are incredible. Good reaction Soul!

Loved your reaction. I found home free in May/June of 2021, and have never looked back. I guess you could call me obsessed. Your first two songs definitely showed, how they can manipulate your emotions. They can make you absolutely cry, bring your patriotism rushing out, give your love of family, friends, and God a lift and lastly have you laughing so hard, you'll have tears rolling down your face. Any song they do is a good choice, but here's a few suggestions. For a true acapella sound, "Helplessly Hoping" from Crosby Stills and Nash or "Crazy" by Patsy Kline. For a taste of Country, "Hillbilly Bone", by Blake Shelton or "Elvira" preformed with The Oak Ridge Boys. Patriotic is definitely "God Bless the USA", preformed with Lee Greenwood and the United States Air Force Band (HF also recorded it with just themselves). And to see their hilarious side, "The Butts Medley" or "Never gonna give you up" by Rick Astley. I hope you enjoy your Home Free journey, and someday consider yourself a "Home Fry" (their fan base). ❤️❤️

One of the few songs reactors hardly ever interrupt. And strangely, many male reactors remain silent at the end, to recover. They're the ones end up dead in the field. Mark wrote something special after the Falklands. He is a very skilled guitarist. But this hits me much harder. BTW, Great reaction! You were smiling when it started, which is normal. Your expression changed quickly. A few reactors are smiling and laughing while reacting to a song about someone saying farewell to his comrades as he becomes a ghost and questions the logic of war.
