I am 60 years old and live in Germany, I made my first experience with R&B, soul, funk music in the 70s, when the disco era came to Germany and I got to know the music of Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Marvin Gaye. Later in the 1980s I bought records from SOS Band, Midnight Star, The Deele, The Time, and many others. Since the German discos did not have the most experience of this music, I went to the clubs in the American barracks to dance. I was dancing 2 to 3 times a week and constantly I also got to know many American soldiers who gave me music information. Most of all I have music from singers and in 1987 I was able to experience my first and best concert by Luther Vandross. Since then I have been a big fan of his. I would like to thank all American musicians who made such music and also the people who like to dance and listen to this music. This music and the dance has opened my heart and nurtured my heart, this music has me a Open up a world of emotions that I would never have known. This music showed me the universe and showed my soul. I wish everyone a good and musical time. The morning is like the smile. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany

If there were a time machine,THIS ERA will be the first one I would go to. Because this is what it's all about and I love it. Everyone coming together to dance and have fun. Love peace and SOUL! RIP Don Cornelius. May he rest in peace. 😇

I was in that time machine, I grew up in that era, and it is all probably true to what you think. It really was the best o times. Soul Train was like an institution. Lotta Fun to watch. You gotta think about, before Gangsta Rap an all that was out, the music was all about having a good time.

Sally, if you read these comments, know that your efforts and intent to dance sexy worked very well for this freshman in high school who had the biggest crush on you in the late 80s and early 90s! I would tune in and even record episodes on my VCR. It’s very surreal to reminisce and watch you on KZbin over 30 years later!
