I own both..... Sony sounds better. It has ether a dome tweeter or a really good mid sound speaker on top and the tiniest subwoofer I have ever seen at the bottom. The JBL still sounds good, but the win is still for Sony.

*JBL* sounds somewhat tinny but performs well throughout the mids-highs. *Sony* is slightly stifled on the mids- highs. However, *Sony* packs the best punch and displays overall sound quality.

Those who say that the JBL has better highs and mids are mistaking 'only highs and mids' for 'better highs'. Ofcourse you're going to hear the highs and mids much better if there's hardly any low end- which makes the sound very robotic. The Sony doesn't sound like it's pure for bassheads, it just sounds more natural and more evened out. None of these devices is aimed at me (I'm the sort of guy who spends 700 dollars on a portable audio player/MP3player) but trust me when I tell you that from this video: the Sony sounds more true-to-life/true-to-the-recording. If you want the most realistic sound at this price, you'd better go for the Sony, unless you really hate bass and/Or just like the look of the JBL...

Just picked up a couple of the Clip 2s for Christmas gifts. The application of the speaker and the sound quality of your video was very helpful for us in making a choice that worked for us. Thanks so much for info. The clarity of sound from JBL was what we were looking for, and in-store makes it really difficult to hear the differences. Sony has a fuller and richer sound indoors, however for outdoor use, we have found that the bass is lost in atmosphere anyways which is why we chose the JBL. Both have their sweet spots, so if active and being a bit away from the speaker is going to be part of your use, JBL might be the way to go, however the Sony might be a better fit at a lower volume in a smaller area or indoors even.

+Hung Ngo lately I've been fiding myself using the xb30 more than any other one. The only thing I hate about it is the fact that at 20% battery left. The speaker cuts your volume way down to like 30% volume untill you plug it in and restart it. Before that it was a toss up between the charge 3 and the iRoar go. And I always use the boom 2 if I am interested in lyrics, listen to podcasts, watch movies or anything with lots of talking, it has my favorite vocal representation

This is a weird comparison. While they cost similarly, these two speakers are in two different categories, especially if you take Clip 3 instead of Clip 2 into comparison (price-wise just as Sony). Clip 3 is more compact, has IPX7 certification meaning it can be fully submersed and has a metal carabiner so you can attach it anywhere. Yes, Sony probably sounds better than Clip 3 as well but it lacks everything else in comparison. Clip 3 and 2 are meant for outdoors.

I listened to these both in Best Buy. The Clip 2 was on sale (normally $59) so both were $39. Sony has a larger sound with some semblance of bass, JBL, not so much. Also, Sony has twice the claimed battery life (16hrs vs 8hrs). Sony has IXP5 rating while JBL has IXP7 (fully submergible). The Clip 2 has the option to pair with another Clip 2 but the Sony does not. I purchased the Clip 2. The flatter profile of the JBL is what I prefer because I plan on clipping to my backpack to be able to listen to music while walking/jogging/hiking. I ended up exchanging it for another Clip because the Bluetooth connection was spotty. So far, happy with my replacement.

I Loooove your video. So cool lol XD OK, so I bought the XB10 before watching this video. First I was about to buy the JBL as they are at the same price AU$75 but then I saw Sony has 16 hours batt life which I think suits me a lot. I mostly use portable speaker at home and to be put at my baby's room. So the songs will be lullaby for sleeping - which I think should be better if I use the JBL (cos of the clear voice). But the BAZZ sound in Sony stabilizes the rhythm/ beats of the songs completely, which I think is good to keep all of us sleeping. I could assume the JBL is nicer for day time usage no matter the what genre of the song. Sony is better for Zzzzzzz XD
