WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE ABOUT MUSIC STREAMING ROYALTIES OR MUSIC STREAMING SERVICES? Let me know! :)
@martinoramos85805 жыл бұрын
I commented on another one of your posts so you might see this twice lol Tynia this was very informative. I'm glad a person like you exists because I been very indecisive on which PRO to choose. I have a question for you. How do splits work between both companies. In my situation I have created a song I am very proud of and I'd like to release it soon; however, I want to receive my royalties properly. There is a female artist on the song so that's one split, and there's a person that made the beat. That's the other split, and of course I am on this song as well. Is there an option to split in three or? I do hope to hear back from you soon. You are excellent at explaining things.
@tyniacoats5 жыл бұрын
@@martinoramos8580 I am glad I am helping you! What do you mean by "how do splits work between both companies"? To answer your other question, yes you can split a song between 3 writers/producers. You can split a song between as many people as you want. I have a video that explains this & gives examples, it's called "Songwriting Royalties vs Publishing Royalties". If you watch that one, you'll see!

I really love helping people & since music is such an important part of my life, I love that I can help musicians. Working at BMI, I saw a lot of musicians' business being mishandled & it was always due to a lack of knowledge. The music industry is super complicated, so it is not a surprise, but I just want you guys to get what you deserve & not get taken advantage of.
@KriosRecordsLLC5 жыл бұрын
@@tyniacoats Absolutely! So, I went with Songtrust and picked BMI. Does the same thing apply with BMI as it does with ASCAP? Meaning, do I need to now go over to BMI and register as publisher as well or will Songtrust handle it. My next question is ( and you may have answered this ): Is it recommended to sign up with multiple music libraries?
@tyniacoats5 жыл бұрын
@@KriosRecordsLLC No, with BMI you don't have to sign up as a publisher unless you want your own publisher account for specific reasons. SongTrust will submit registrations for your songs with them as the publishing administrator. I advise always checking on what they register for you though, make sure the registrations are always tied to your BMI account# & IPI#. As for signing up with multiple music libraries, if they can get you multiple placements then go right ahead! More $$ for you! :)

@tyniacoats5 жыл бұрын
It is EXTREMELY difficult to track your own royalties, borderline impossible. You can, however, enter into direct licensing agreements with certain streaming platforms so then the royalties get paid directly to you. The big platforms definitely have strict criteria for that though.

@tyniacoats5 жыл бұрын
BMI is able to track royalties through your song registrations, which is why it is very important that you register your songs correctly with them! Most music platforms use fingerprint technology to track the songs on their platforms and then the title/artist info of that song is linked to that fingerprint & then the music platforms report this to BMI. There are other ways as well, but that's for a whole other video! For your distributor question, I will be sure to address that in my digital distribution company vs publishing administrator video coming out in 2 weeks! & thank you! :)

QUESTION: I'm an independent artist who buys premium license beats online. I'm the songwriter and recording/performing artist for all my songs as far as the lyrics are concern. The producer of course is the songwriter for the instrumental. Can I claim sound recording royalties through sound exchange and other platforms ? NOTE: I know the beat license agreement varies per contract but for the sake of argument with a premium beat license in my case I can do anything with the beat, except the beat will continue getting sold because I did not purchase an exclusive license. NOTE: The reason why I'm asking is because when going through copyright.gov the page says that because I did not create the entire art (the lyrics & instrumental) for the song, that I can only file for a Performing Arts copyright and not a Sound Recording copyright. Thanks in advance.
