Start soft singing, try practicing mixed voice for the higher notes and adding grit to sound like chris. Keep going you'll get there!

His highest full note is in Full On Kevin's Mom (A5) But other great examples of his high register are: Cold Bitch, Birth Ritual, Smokestack Lightning, Heretic, Jesus Christ Pose, Ugly Truth live 1990... I can go on and on..

I saw Soundgarden back in the day. I'm talking about Superunknown-just-came-out back in the day and to hear Chris Cornell peel the paint off the walls with his voice was truly one of the greatest sounds I ever heard. Not just a vocal performance...a goddamn sound. He still has the best musical voice today and every singer should be watching and listening to this video to realize how much they have to learn. Fuck everything else. Cornell is a living god.

@Geocentric chris has a 4 octave range but he didn't show it in this clip.
@Nictric13 жыл бұрын
A 4 octave range that spans over a decade of forty years. That's really the misconception everyone has about range, like I mean yeah he probably had a weaker lower range in the early days but it's somewhat flip-flopped.

Almost a year later and I'm still watching this video regularly.....and it hasn't gotten any easier to watch or hear....still can't listen to "Like a Stone". I hear the first few chords, and I'm like, NOPE, can't do it....I will just have to remain in denial for the rest of my life.

There are other male vocalists that can sing the same range as Chris Cornell. But I've never heard anyone else do it like Chris Cornell. He brought a wheel barrow to hold his balls while he did it. All the others only had a tin cup. Chris sings with Jesus now.
@afonsodeportugal Жыл бұрын
True. He sang well in the Soprano range and still sounded manly. It was insane, especially in his 20s and early 30s.

Took me a while to like his voice but no one can say he wasn't an extremely talented dude. Also, strangely enough, sometimes I get the impression he sounds a bit like Dio on some of his raspy belts, like their techniques were somewhat similar. Which is funny because they're both some of the hardest people to immitate, sound wise.
