This is amazingly practical. Have gone through a fair amount of theory videos to understand the construction of this stuff, often explained in piano, sometimes on CoF wheel, but laying it out in guitar terms with practical use examples was hugely valuable!

Ok so I downloaded and printed this a few months back and I’ve been looking still and started watching again and remember because I got a handle on caged major minor and the modes Now I need some chords but how ? Not a giant chord encyclopedia. And maestro I’m glad to have returned ! I’ve been watching a LOT of lessons on chord theory and just couldn’t get to what I wanted ? Sometimes you don’t really know what you’re looking for. After watching this walk through I have to say this is pretty comprehensive. It’s useable . Especially the way you relate it to the chords in keys . Quite amazing. When you start to search for chords beyond M and m the lessons often go directly to jazz. I don’t want jazz chords particularly, just better than basic . Thank you!

I was looking for my old hand drawn chord diagrams book I couldn’t find it! I was creating my own material and methods to learn, I noticed that after whatever I was doing to learn Guitar, I kept seeing similar lessons getting uploaded on the net by the Guitar Teachers! Thankfully I didn’t have to work harder anymore since Hero to Zero Guitar Mr Dave, has done an incredible job of creating a book to be downloaded which covers more of the chord progression lessons. If I may suggest which nobody has done yet but I am hand drawing it currently which is to create the chord progression diagrams throughout the neck in different shapes along with the note names. Thank you!

New guitarist I think usually resist the idea of learning the notes on the fret board. I know I did for 50+ years. I finally saw a need and it sure makes things easier. Your chart, indicating which note is which is great. I don't remember seeing any chord book that does it. Been getting into some jazz using extended chords extensively and this will make it easier to come up with my own fingerings.

Ah, good point regarding the fingering numbers - thanks for sharing your thoughts about it - that's helpful. I do think fingering indicators are great in pieces of music because that's where it matters, but in just a chord shape It's hard to choose one because it depends on how we might use it - but you're right that it can help with making the shapes faster, and I'll totally keep your comment in mind in the future. Thanks so much!! -Jared

I have a hard time getting where I feel I want to go. Basically, I'm kind of slow in getting things because I'm self-taught (well as one can be nowadays) I'm 71 so I know a lot but you know, meh. Learning to play like that kind of takes you to different places, but I'm pretty creative. I hope I can make my stuff pop a little using new chords and a jazzy feel. I really appreciate your help and direction. THANKS!

Great video. It lays out all the chords very clearly. I will definitely by using these charts. Just a suggestion with the minor line. You could have put it below the major numbers at the top. That way they would by laying right above the chords. You wouldn't have to scroll then.

Thankyou for the chord chart. I know a lot of the chords on the chart, but it is a handy reference guide. PS. something to think about when you next release it, maybe put the finger number on the chart. Beginners very often don't know which fingers to use. I know it might over complicate it though.

Awesome. What would be valuable for me would be a similar chart/lesson on closed (barre) fingerings that also includes the altered extensions, i.e., something more oriented to jazz comping. Instead of "every chord for every key" (because it would be a book otherwise!) just the key chords in a single major and single minor key (particularly since in closed form they are "all the same" re: shape across keys).
@soundguitar3 жыл бұрын
oooh, I love it. Thanks for the request! I have something that you might like for jazz comping that overlaps with some of what you're looking for here but also includes jazz chord inversions and a system for practicing them and connecting them in comping - send me an email, jared@soundguitarlessons.com, and I'll hook you up with it if you like. -Jared
