The “instrument” is called a talk box. It is connected to Adam’s guitar, it amplifies sound through a driver, about as small as an earphone driver, into a tube which goes into his mouth and what you hear is the reverb (echo) of the guitar from his mouth into a microphone

Just stumbled onto your channel. Subscribed. Great format. The talk box works like a little closed box speaker cabinet that sends the guitar sound through a rubber hose up to the guitar players mouth. The sound is then controlled with the mouth ( just like talking ) in front of a microphone. Good shit.

Tool is just such a tight band with lots to dig into. Plenty of interesting stuff to decipher here. Sometimes you have to just focus on one part, like the crunchy bass Justin Chancellor brings. It's a great experience to piece together the elements that go into their songs.
@jimbojones8978Ай бұрын
Most rock and roll and modern music you hear on the radio is done in 4/4 time where there's 4 beats to a measure. Tool will sometimes use several different time signatures in a single song, which is what I think you're talking about not being able to catch 1. ;) The Pot is a great song from Tool if you haven't heard that one yet. I think it's all in 4/4.

Jambi’s the tool-iest Tool! The heavy riff, polyrhythms, time sig, soaring vocals… Eight minutes goes by like three. All audio is guitar, bass, percussion, vocals… with a sh-ton of electronic effects and pedals, etc. They’re studio rats. Savants. There’s no shame pulling up the lyrics on your phone or something. But I love the true immersion you're doing. Let the lyrics seep in over time. It makes the song stronger and evolve naturally. “Eulogy” still takes my breath away.
