I absolutely love the Theos system. I'm definitely buying a second system. I was going to buy other systems but once I saw it have a headphone jack on the transmitter, my brain went to the moon and back. Being able to listen to the lavalier without my bag is SO GREAT and it makes me curious to know why other systems don't have that. My only gripe is like you said, there is NO limiter.. so when I get actors who suddenly start shouting... YEA! I can counter this by just lowering the gain at the transmitter and pushing the gain on my MixPre 6 but still.. no limiter Deity? *9.8/10*

I’ve been using the Theos professionally for several months. I’m glad to see your results are in line with the results I’ve seen. They clip like crazy at the transmitter, so I’m usually transmitting at +9 to +15dB gain, then gain staging at my mixer. I have run into a lot of dropouts, even from less than 20 feet away in the 550MHz region on typical sets with 1 or 2 cameras transmitting wirelessly plus comteks plus handheld coms . I’ve found using butterflies or shark fins dramatically improves the distance the Theos are useful at. Is anyone else using Deity Theos having similar issues?
@jaimefish1736 ай бұрын
in general i have found 470-530 ranges are the only usable frequencies on lectrosonics/ sony Uwp/ Sennheisers. I was confused that Theos didint touch the 470/19/20 blocks. Big part of the American Market.

Open teradeks, hollyland transmitters, solidcoms, open iems, along with the bag with distros, other brands also inside the bag. | got 2 theos kits and upon testing it on the store it's flawless. When i put it in my soundbag on a real documentary shoot and commercials along with lectro src's & 411a's it produces some artifacts and dropouts as well as the noise floor is kinda high to my liking. Much of this was way over my head, I felt like I was back in electronics school 25 years ago which I barely understood then. But I really appreciated the distance tests...this seems really impressive especially punching through metal. I've been using Sennheiser G3/G4 and I've found as soon as a car door is closed even if I'm close I'm getting weird things happening. I just ordered these, I'm excited to get my hands on them. I'm in Canada so stoked that I can record on the tx while transmitting, that makes me a lot less nervous about the no limiter issue. Couple questions...your suggestion for menu shortcuts, is that something they can do in a firmware update? Also, the Mute thing in the app...I swore I saw in Curtis Judd's video that Mute does show in the app when it's muted? And you can even mute from the app. Maybe I misunderstood what you were talking about. Anyway, really appreciate this! I have the TC-1s so this will play really nicely with those. @@SoundSpeeds mostly just pretty bad interference due to close proximity to passing highway traffic. Some drop outs as well, though I was well within line of sight of the Txs. still considering why the drop outs happened but I think it could in part be due to transmitter position and how the actors were blocked. They were all lying on the ground but keep in mind I was like 10 feet away during the scene. Drop outs probably could have been fixed by repoing the txs

I'm in the same boat although I think I'm gonna be saving for a little while longer but better Wireless is my next investment I think. I bought a couple of original RODE wireless GOs v1 but there are some definite line of sight and distance concerns even though I love the size of the units. I've been using these things for a live event. I also got some XLR wireless adapters and again I really want something outside of 2.4 GHz, when they work they work great and then when you think you'll have no problems it's all wacky. I was at a train roundhouse which should've been reasonably RF clean apart from the ubiquity networking gear inside the brick building and should've been fairly well buffered from neighboring Wireless to some extent, and yet I had minor issues so I moved the receiver and as soon as we started the wireless was complete garbage even my laptop dropped off the control network for the mixer. So I've been playing 3-D chess with my bank account and products preparing the direction that I'll be going in. And I really started to like what I was hearing and seeing from Deity Theos stuff. Though I am really hoping they're going to do a double set with the plug on transmitter. I'm thinking two channels of wireless in the bag two channels of wireless for live and various combinations of lapel or plug-in that can float between both scenarios. And I almost came close to a job which would've had me probably booming to some extent, oh shucks to be one man band gotta set the gain staging and then focus on the booming.

13:40 is a *brutal* RF test. Normally you get worried when you have a single metal wall, which causes reflections which causes cancellation which causes dropouts. This doesn't just have one wall, it has a metal ceiling and metal floor and metal behind the glass. There are cancellations everywhere. Some might constructively increase the signal, but will be so spikey that it won't help. You miss a bit and the parity bit, and you're sunk (even though you're on a boat). It's not as much blasting through metal, but having metal reflect the signal that causes the biggest issues.
