Hi George, DDE is great , but as someone who runs multi unit consists, the issue is all the units notching up or down at the same time. As you know, having them in a advanced consists keep s the notches together, but with DDE, with each loco behaving slightly different, , you could not get uneven notching? If you could slave the trailing units off the headend units ...the THAT would be a gamechanger!! Get your tech guys on it ! Cheers Gregg.

This is why I mentioned to turn down the sensitivity. I get mine to run pretty close, but my sensitivity is 16 in CV 2.512 and I also change CV 114 for 15 Speed Steps per notch (among other things CV 114 does, so your final value will be determined with other factors such as autostart..) Mine is 95. (15ss/notch, interlock enabled, Idle Dynamic Braking.) Again, when you get them dialed in, you will have a great experience. But it will take some trial and error, and it may not be 100% in tandem, but remember, GEs load up differently than EMDs, so there is already some differences there anyway. We just usually don’t get to see/hear it since they’re either starting up in front of us at full throttle or passing us at speed. Perception is the key factor. If you want to hear my BNSF 3-unit consist, see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6XOoZ9sbtN3g6s

DDE is one of the best realism features available on the market, and one of the biggest advantages that set Tsunami2 apart from it's competitors. One of the many pros, that encourage modelers to choose to standardize with Soundtraxx

Nice vid. Great first step in explaining the basics of DDE. Consider also doing one about the various other DDE CVs.

Thanks for the feedback, we do have several videos on DDE. The main point of this one was to show how easy calibration is with the app.

Thanks George! Hugely helpful video as I continue to tweak my steam engines to sound more realistic!

I absolutely love this feature! I do find the DDE is better used in larger steam engines like articulated or bigger freight engines; examples such as the N&W Y6b, Reading T1, Pennsy J1/J1a, Pennsy Q2, UP Big Boy, NYC Niagara, and the B&O EM-1. these are some off the top of my head but man do they bark up a storm with a large train on a hill.

Have you guys thought about making a physical controller for Blunami just in case if anything happens to the app?

We will keep this in mind, but you can use your DCC system as well and there is support for the app.

Since I am going to be putting Blunami Alco decoders in a Rapido FA & FB-1, would I have to adjust the DDE sensitivity or could I calibrate both the A & B unit while they are consisted together?

You can calibrate the DDE together, but it will not give the true load of the lone motor. We have some recommendations for the setting so the DDE does keep more coordinated, but I’m afraid your idea may result in unusual behavior. Try it, and if it doesn’t work, or you don’t like the results, you can then separate them and recalibrate it. So, See what you find and go from there. My personal setting preference is low DDE sensitivity on diesels, and set the auto-notching rate to 15/SS per notch, so it spaces the notching points apart, so they are less responsive to a bump in the couplers or a minor track hump. Play with it and see what you find.. Contact us at support@soundtraxx.com if you need further assistance. Thank you!
