Here's what I found out searching 'round the internet--I also typed this in another vid about water. "use env_fog_controller, click fog enable yes, and keep fog start at 500.0 and make fog end 30000.0 It will make the water textures visible! :) Also--you won't have as much fog with fog end at 30000.0!"

i dont understand, i did everything right but the water just glitches out and becomes part of the skybox

In TF2, water does not appear from above, but when underwater it shows as water. How do I fix this?

i found out how to make the texture not weird for half life 2: make a cubemap and i think you also have to make a env_fog_controller your welcome if you have this :D

I don't know if you will see this comment, but I'm not able to put the reflections of the PROPS in the water, the option RENDER FAST REFLECTIONS is not appearing for me

This comment may be rather late but I still want to know-- Is water made this way going to function the way it's expected to in Team Fortress 2 if I use it in a TF2 map? If not, how would I go about making TF2-Style water? In addition, how does one make shallow water work?

Check for leaks in the level

Jankoleti A leak is a spot in your map where an entity could “leak” into the void. Leaks cause a lot of problems, like transparent water, so they must be sealed by a brush. If you’re having trouble finding a leak, click on map, then load pointfile. This will draw a line that shows where your map is leaking.

@@sympathy9060 there are no leaks in the level, but the water textures are still transparent. also some textures under it don't render unless you go underwater

Is "render in fast reflections" a newer addition to source? The source mod I'm making a map for (KZMod) doesn't seem to have that option in the prop_statics.

dunno if anyone can help. I have put water in my map and it works but when I try and place water in a different area in the map it works but only half of the time you run around in it 1 sec its clear and you see the floor under it then next its solid green and changes as you move about

Yeah thats kinda late xD, but basically you cant have more than one water in your level, its limited to one and it bugs when you add another one

I don't know if you still see these comments, but I have a bug, If I go too far away from water it becomes completely dark green. I don't know how to fix it, I have already set the water_lod_control entity to really far.

***** Source hasn't gotten an update in God knows how long, so it's still clunky and hard to use. Hopefully with the arrival of Source 2 we'll get a better SDK.

If you mean that poison water, just make sure to place a trigger_hurt in it. Sometimes a particle system is recommended for the smoke coming out of it. Definitely look it up at Valve Developer Community - developer.valvesoftware.com
