Here's what I found out searching 'round the internet--I also typed this in another vid about water. "use env_fog_controller, click fog enable yes, and keep fog start at 500.0 and make fog end 30000.0 It will make the water textures visible! :) Also--you won't have as much fog with fog end at 30000.0!"

i found out how to make the texture not weird for half life 2: make a cubemap and i think you also have to make a env_fog_controller your welcome if you have this :D

This comment may be rather late but I still want to know-- Is water made this way going to function the way it's expected to in Team Fortress 2 if I use it in a TF2 map? If not, how would I go about making TF2-Style water? In addition, how does one make shallow water work?

Jankoleti A leak is a spot in your map where an entity could “leak” into the void. Leaks cause a lot of problems, like transparent water, so they must be sealed by a brush. If you’re having trouble finding a leak, click on map, then load pointfile. This will draw a line that shows where your map is leaking.

dunno if anyone can help. I have put water in my map and it works but when I try and place water in a different area in the map it works but only half of the time you run around in it 1 sec its clear and you see the floor under it then next its solid green and changes as you move about

***** Source hasn't gotten an update in God knows how long, so it's still clunky and hard to use. Hopefully with the arrival of Source 2 we'll get a better SDK.

If you mean that poison water, just make sure to place a trigger_hurt in it. Sometimes a particle system is recommended for the smoke coming out of it. Definitely look it up at Valve Developer Community - developer.valvesoftware.com
