I remember when I was a kid, and one particular friday night my Mom ordered Pizza Hut and when the pizza showed up at our door, a demo of this game was taped to the top of the box. We had dinner and then I gave it a whirl. The demo only went through the first couple of scenes, but that weekend I played the demo over about 4 or 5 times because I was immediately hooked. I just started playing this for the first time, and while I understand that it was a revolutionary game for its time - and I agree it is still a good game (and I am planning on playing it trough) - it certainly isnt' one of the best games I have ever played. One of the biggest issues is that by todays standards, the controls and the camera feel a bit clumsy, and even quite bad at times - altough that is a common problem for the ps1 era 3D games. The AI is another thing, which is pretty stupid: the enemies sometimes ignore you even when you are clearly in their vision, for example. And the gameplay feels also a bit linear.

Give in to Ocelot's torture -- Save Otacon at the end of the game. Rewards you with Stealth Camouflage for 2nd playthrough. Beat the game twice after satisfying both of the above conditions? You unlock Snake's tuxedo.
@kodidickerson82855 жыл бұрын
What benefits comes with the tux? And if you beat it twice by doing both tortures do you get the stealth and unlimited ammo on the 3rd play through? Please respond asap and let me know im curious to know
@voteZDLR5 жыл бұрын
@@kodidickerson8285 Well the Tux is basically just a replacement for Snake's normal suit in MGS1. It just looks different. BUT because you had to beat the game both ways prior to that, you have the usable abilities in the Bandana and the Stealth camouflage. You will always have the tux on, it just replaces your normal sneaking suit, so it's a cosmetic only thing but you can definitely still use your stealth camo and bandana. EDIT: Yes, you can use both the stealth AND the bandana. They're items you equip, just like keycards. So if you get in a big firefight, put the bandana on and don't lose a single bullet. Don't feel like stealthing an area? Switch to the stealth camo. Etc etc etc. They're just items you get for subsequent playthroughs. Having both just makes it a playground though more or less, being able to waltz through rooms on stealth camo then set up an ambush in a room and have an infinite firefight with the bandanas etc. Good times. LOL
@kodidickerson82855 жыл бұрын

@@kodidickerson8285 You can't use the bandana and the stealth camo at the same time... unfortunately. But it's really simple to switch back and forth between the two of them. When I was a kid I used to have the bandana on and I would basically kill guards until I got bored or wanted to stealth away to another section. You are right though this game was revolutionary af when it came out, I remember it very clearly. When you beat Metal Gear Rex the very first time it's such a rewarding feeling. Then you find out about the bonuses lol but yeah those are the three unlockables I remember and know for a fact you can get in all versions of this game.

I remember going to my cousin’s house for Thanksgiving in 1998. Didn’t own a PlayStation at the time, only a N64 and thought spy games were only like Goldeneye 64. I remember playing the intro and the dock scene before we left his house to go home. I don’t know why, but the music in that scene just stuck with me the whole ride home. Felt so epic. I remember getting a PlayStation soon after and this game was my first game. To this day, it’s remained my favorite game of all time. Felt like you were playing the best action movie of all time, in video game form. Judging by the amount of people who have remade certain scenes of this game with modern technology, I would say that I am far from the only one that this game struck a deeply personal cord with. I’m so blessed to have this game be there for my rise through childhood.
@TheDro862 жыл бұрын
Best action movie ever in video game form is a perfect way to describe it. Idk how they managed to make every boss fight more epic than the last one but they managed to do it. Fighting rex was so awesome and they somehow made a fist fight afterward feel even cooler, i can't give this game enough praise it is truly a masterpiece

I played and finished this game on 1/16/2023 for the very first time. I played it on my PS3 and was surprised by how much I was invested in the story. I've been playing the MGS games in chronological order (MGS3 -> Peace Walker -> MGSV -> MG 1 -> MG2: Solid Snake -> Metal Gear Solid), and doing so made this game emotional for me. Even with outdated graphics and controls, this game is fun to play and its story/characters/dialogues are engaging. I can see why this game was a hit back when it came out. I will be playing MGS2 next, and then MGS 4. Can't wait to see how it all comes together !!!

The PS1 was pretty new at the time and the only games I had played where Crash Bandicoot and Rayman. My dad wasn't big into games, still isn't either, but he played this game all the way through, to this day its the only game hes ever played and beaten. Such an amazing game. I replayed it over xmas while visiting family and found out that you can use the box in the back of the van to quickly get to certain areas. kingkeefage Yeah, that would make more sence. If they die fast, they can't do that much harm, perfect weapon.....almost. They didn't aged too fast. Well, for me at least. If I would be a warlord, the least thing I would want that the clones survive, so they can't rage much bigger wars later on
