Don't lie. Most townships, which is where a majority of black South Africans live, are clean and well taken care of. The dirty areas are mostly slums, which we all know slums are slums anywhere in the world, of course they will be messy. But the dilapidation you are talking about is caused by an influx, an infestation really, of African immigrants (mostly Nigerians) into the inner cities. Sunnyside, Hillbrow, etc., it's all full of Nigerians, sitting in every corner, whistling at every passerby and asking them if they looking to "enjoy" themselves. I'm Jamaican and when I visited in May, a lot of the South Africans were not the most welcoming. One of the hotel staff immediately stopped helping us and talking to us when we told her where we were from. They were always putting down the neighboring African countries like Zimbabwe and said ALL Nigerians that were successful there were scammers. They didn't have too much issue with Kenyans and Ethiopians though.
