The tattoo artist puts the needle in on an angle. The needle puts the ink just under the outer Dermis layer of the skin. After the healing process the dermis layer grows back over the image protecting it. What actually keeps the image permanent are your white blood cells eating little bits of ink turning them the color of the tattoo in the process.

One thing about tattoos for me is that I would tattoo every name of every girlfriend I´ve got in my life, because even my current gf is not permanent, I spent my time with her. Me and my gf me are together since 2017 now and I would get a tattoo with her name, even me might break up some day, but I spent over 6 years now with her, thats a lot of time. So even if we break up, I will never forget the time with her and I never want to forget the time. Thats my opinion
