Yes, I concur with the last poster. Great seeing a longer video adventure. Would love to see an additional short video where you discuss gear considerations and why you chose certain pieces of kit. And maybe some of the challenges afterwards. Thanks for uploading!

Tassie is definitely on the bucket list. I'm exhausted and my muscles are aching just watching this haha. Great video. Can't wait for Melbourne restrictions to be lifted again so I can get back out there myself.

Glad you enjoyed it! Alas, as it was a commercially led trip, the 'ultralight' side of me wasn't able to come out and play. If I did it independently, I'd carry very different food (albeit not as tasty as the delicious meals the guide prepared) and my pack would be much lighter.

Thanks for sharing. I posted a photo of me on your fb tonight. One of the muddy areas of the sw track. Our weather wasn’t as good as yours but the weather is part of the trip. I spent nye at little dead mans bay. The guides went and caught abalone. We were all asleep by 9pm. The hike over the iron bounds was tough. I’m 100km carrying a heavy pack. When I got to the top I was blown off my feet by 100km winds. But it was great. Would I go again? There are other hikes to do, but never say never.

How do U find the cascade 65?
@LotsaFreshAir
@LotsaFreshAir 3 жыл бұрын
I don't mind it. It's tough, well padded and has seen me through lots of trips. Only a few things I'd change... I like hip belt pockets (which it doesn't have) and I find the belt needs tightening every 5km or so. 65 is the biggest pack I own, so it only gets out on long trips of 6 days+.

Great video. Though this track definitely isn't one of Aussie's toughest.
@LotsaFreshAir
@LotsaFreshAir 2 жыл бұрын
Huh, never said it was! ;-). The Overland is a great introduction to multiday bushwalking, where the navigation, campsites and track info/interp is not in short supply. It's not hard from a planning point of view and 'toughness' is very relative depending on people's fitness and past experience with multiday/overnight self-sufficiency, in changing weather conditions. There's a whole other world of challenge once you step off-track, do your own planning, research and exploring and add in scrub, ascent/descent and generous dollops of type-2 fun! Woohoo!

@LotsaFreshAir

@@zenrising3314 Oh, wait! Huh. I see what you mean now. I was replying within all the comments (for ALL videos) section and as I'd just posted the video on the Overland Track, I thought your comment was about that. Alas, non! Now I get what you meant. ie. the SOUTH COAST TRACK not Overland. Hmmm, well. In terms of official national park multi-day tracks, I do still feel that the South Coast is one of the most challenging. For clarification, I have added the word 'guided' hikes in to the description, as apart from say, the Western Arthurs (which is only rarely offered by commercial guiding companies), the SCT would be one of the top 3 hardest for commercially guided trips. But yep, when comparing with independent, off-track trips... there's no level to the challenge that can be presented ;-)
