Thali is nothing but a plater filled with variety of dishes.
Today, i am sharing my take on south Indian Thali. Typically, Thali consists of appetizers, main course, sides and desert.
This south indian thali consists of Masala vada and appalam(papad) as appetizer, for main course i am serving sambhar,rasam,rice and curd.
Potato fry and Broadbeans(avarakai/chikkudukaya) fry as side dish. Finally for dessert, i am serving rava kesari. This is such a tasty thali. You can serve this on festivals as a lunch menu.

Rice:
Ponni Raw rice - 1 cup
Water - 2 1/2 cups
Sambhar recipe:
Toor Dal / split pigeon peas - 1/2 cup
Oil -1 tbsp
Mustard -1/2 tsp
Urad dal / black gram -1/2 tsp
Garlic - 5 pods
Curry leaves
Green chilli - 2
Onion - 1 medium
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Hing - 1/8 tsp
water
Broad beans - 3
Drumstick - 1 small
Brinjal - 1 large
Salt
Tomato - 1/2 Large
Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
Sambhar powder - 1 tsp
Tamarind Pulp - 1/4 cup
Corriander leaves

Potatoes - 2
Water

Oil - 3 tbsps
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Cumin - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal / black gram - 1/2 tsp
Chana Dal / split chickpeas-1/2 tsp
Red chilli - 1
Curry Leaves
Onion - 1/2 large
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsps
Tomato - 3/4 large
Chilli Powder - 2 tsps
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Corriander leaves
Broad Beans Fry(Avarakkai fry / Chikkudhukaya fry):
Broadbeans/Avarakai/Chikkudukaya - 250 gms
Water - 1/8 cup
Salt
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard - 1/8 tsp
Urad dal / black gram- 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Onion - 1/2 large
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder - 2 tsps
Peanut powder - 1/4 cup
Corriander pepper powder - 1 tsp
Corriander leaves
Masala vada:
Chana Dal / split chickpeas- 3/4 cup
Red chilli - 2
Garlic - 1 pod
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Ginger - small pc
Salt
Onion - 1/2 large
Curry leaves
Oil - to deep fry
Rasam :
Tomato - 1/2 large
Water - 3 cups
Salt
Hing - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Tamarind pulp - 1/2 cup
Homemade rasam powder - 4 tsps
Green chilli - 1
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal / black gram - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
Gralic - 4 pods
Curry leaves
Corriander leaves
Rava Kesari:
Ghee - 2 tbsps
Nuts
Rava - 1/2 cup
Water - 2 cups
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Cardamon - 4
Saffron a pinch
