so when triple h had his quad injury that day in 2001, my paramedic mother was in the audience. when the actual injury occurred, she was watching the tron and actually saw the muscle roll up into his pelvis and she immediately knew what it was. she called the arena directly and told them he was hurt, their response was "no ma'am, what he's doing is called 'selling', he's not re-" and then she yelled that she knew and to get an ambulance down there immediately, and he was REALLY hurt. they didn't have any medical staff on duty that night, so she was urged backstage to help, and after he came out of the curtain the first thing he said to her was "oh hi, my name is paul" before she helped him until the rig arrived. i miss that woman. still have that backstage pass, somewhere.

I love the progression of how the whole thing gets more theatrical. Dressing room, "2nd Act", Tolkien's hair in curlers, Playbill, box seats for McMahon, chimes and flashing the "house lights" to end the intermission, etc, etc. Brilliant.

Wrestling was popular when I was a kid but it was never my thing, I thought it was stupid, growing up and finding out what goes on behind the scenes I have a deep respect for it, it's still not my cup of tea but I got to hand it to the people that have to act on improv in front of a live audience and do stunts all in front of a live audience. It's pretty impressive.

Love this episode, 100% accurate depiction of my childhood. All my friends signed up for wrestling after watching WWF/WCW. After 1 day of practice 25 kids quit once they found out it wasn't WWF. I was only one didn't get memo and went back. I was too embarrassed to tell my parents I wanted to quit after I begged them to let me wrestle. I didn't quit until freshman year of high school 5 years later. My favorite wrestlers were Sting, Kane and Rey Mysterio. I always liked the wrestlers that wore masks or face paint.

Those two headlines at 9:38 were taken from a real world scandal that happened around the time this episode was made. Basically, two parents released a black saucer shaped balloon and claimed their son was inside it. The national guard and local police pursued the balloon as it reached a height of 7000 feet. When the balloon descended and the boy wasn't found, they searched the home and found that the boy had been in the attic the whole time.

I had to scroll down pretty far to find someone with names I grew up with. I grew up in New Orleans and the wrestling we watched in the early 80s was Mid-South Wrestling. Junk Yard Dog was the most popular wrestler down here for years. Jake the Snake started in Mid-South back in the late 70s b/c his father, Grizzly Smith, ran it. Hacksaw Duggan also wrestled down here for years.

Mick Foley is the GOAT. He put himself through absolute hell time and time again. Second for me is a tie between The Rock and Stone Cold. After that in third place is an even bigger tie between The Hardy's, Edge & Christian and The Dudleys for inventing the TLC match, and performing the greatest ever examples of it. Special mention to Eddie Guerrero for innovating a character that could be equally loved as a Heel and had some amazing ideas like the chair shot frame.

ayy i made it in the recommendations. There's an error I noticed the first time watching this back when South Park was on Netflix. Kenny (el pollo loco) dies in this episode but then after that at the end when the kids are arguing you can keep hearing cartman as if he's arguing with Kenny

Nope you’re not too old! You’re right! I think the LoD is their official name. I always thought people referred to them by either name.

Shawn Michaels vs Brett Hart was the greatest. My grandma was so into it that it was the first time I ever saw her jump, when Shawn Michaels landed the sweet chin music.

I’m 27 now, by the time I was old enough to start watching wrestling (early 2000s), it had already dramatically fell off. Luckily there was a video store that had a wrestling section with all kinds of stuff from the 70s/80s territory days, and the mid-to-late 90s Monday night wars/attitude era. I remember being like 9-10 yrs old and realizing how much better the older stuff was than the current day product. My aunt took me to a small house show and I got to meet Bill Dundee, I remember I was like the only kid excited to see him and wondering why nobody else really cared. Took awhile to realize it was because he was 20 years past his glory days lol I just love the business and hearing guys tell stories from the road back then. Idk what my original point was supposed to be, sorry for the rambling lol good reaction

WWF: Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, and Undertaker! I could strongly relate to this episode. As a kid, I often watched WWF on Saturdays and it was a custom to talk about the episode with classmates on Monday morning. So when I checked my encyclopedia for the wrestling entry, I saw those wrestling suits and I was very confused. :))
