From what I can see and based on how Texas sets up our freeways and frontage roads, it looks like the car was entering the freeway on a ramp and hit the right front of the truck (not the trailer), likely hitting the back part of the steer (front) tire, causing it to steer hard right and forcing the truck on its trajectory with destruction. I'd be willing to bet the kid didn't look to see if the road was clear, or thought everyone would get out of the way - not realizing HE was required to yield to the freeway traffic.

@epockismet76 The car didn't "come out from under the truck"; he ricocheted off the SIDE of the truck. Before the car starts flipping, the front of the car is spinning away from the truck. That indicated a glancing blow; this blow is what sent the truck out of control - likely it damaged the steering, which forced the truck to veer off the road. Then he got to the dirt which tripped up the car, and that's when he started flipping. The kid ran into the side of the truck, at the back part of the front fender by the steer tire.

I was a commercial long haul truck driver and I would have been able to keep the truck on the road. This trucker may have been distracted when the accident happened or could have had the truck on cruise control. And the heavier the truck the easier it is to stop and control especially on a flat road. Hills are a different story. And why would a little light car have any effect on a semi. This is not like doing a Pitt maneuver on a car of equal weight. Physics says he should have bounced off the truck like a ping pong ball. I think the trucker was tired or distracted was slow to apply breaks, and the over steered.

Because SWAT cant even do that and they have armored vehicles. based on the video the truck went in the opposite direction from where it was allegedly hit from. I honestly cant tell who was the aggressor because of the direction of the crash it looks like road rage in my opinion. I find it hard to believe both control and pitman arms snapped to the right after being hit from a left facing direction on the right side. If the car was responsible for the semi loosing control wouldn’t it have been in the other direction.

The truck has so much more momentum due to its mass that the dinky Fiat could not have caused it to get pushed even if the Fiat had high velocity. When the red Fiat is first visible in the video the right front light is the only visible. This would indicate the truck overtook the Fiat from the outer lane and crashed into the left rear of it, or one of the vehicles was coming into the wrong lane. Could easily been the truck as it most probably was going faster, but could also have been the Fiat trying to get into the faster lane. There is no ramp leading traffic into the highway just back of here, but there is an exit (134) 1/4 of a mile back but it probably played no role.

I have watched the video clip so many times on slow motion, it was the truck driver who turned into the fiat, the fiat got clipped by the trailer not the cab the truck was already turning into the centre nature strip in front of the fiat, it was when the fiat got clipped by the trailer that it got sent flying. The 18 year old was never in front or even cut of the truck he drove on to the nature strip to get away from the truck. Play it at .25x speed and see for your self. You don’t even see the fiat at all until the truck starts aiming for the nature strip, the fiat was right beside the truck the whole time, the truck pulled right across in front of the fiat, the fiat tried to get away from the truck but the truck trailer clipped the fiat not the other way around. I think the truck driver may if had a massive heart attack which caused him to collapse on his steering wheel and his body weight pulled it to the right he could of had both feet planted on the gas peddle and the brakes at the same time. I few years ago this happened to a woman driver, while having a heart attack she stepped on both the gas and brake peddles at the same time which showed the skid marks but the car was under acceleration at the same time. That’s what the truck looked like it was doing as well. I hope his lawyers gets someone to look at that footage at slow speed frame by frame because you never see the fiat on the on ramp at all it was beside the truck the whole time it’s only when the truck starts turning that you finally get the glimpse of the fiat as the trailer clips him when he too is on the nature strip and not before that at all.

My mother was a truck driver for 24 yrs and she told me that 4 wheelers are the main cause of accidents because they will cut a semi off thinking that a semi can stop quickly I always feared semi’s and when I was on the road I never drove behind them I always got in front of them so I can see and I don’t drive along side of them because they can’t really see ghost riders
@DaSneakyAzn3 ай бұрын
For the restarted people commenting that the big rig didn't attempt to "stop" after getting pushed off the road don't understand basic physics of how hard it is to actually stop an extremely large amount of weight in a short time. They also can't do any deductive reasoning and understand that this crash happened just after sunrise (you can tell by the long shadows coming from the east); meaning dew on the grass was still present and everyone knows even a light vehicle would slide when full brakes are applied at those speeds. They were moving at highway speeds as you can see the first vehicle that passed the camera was driving at normal speeds while the vehicles behind them started to immediately slow down once they saw the crash unfold (you don't just keep driving full speed INTO an wreck unless you are missing your frontal lobe.)
