1:23 As a fan of Southern Pacific as well as the Texas and New Orleans and Cotton Belt it’s amazing to know that 4449 traveled on the very rails of the TNO sunbeam passenger train back in the 80s I wonder how many years apart that is from when the Sunbeam passenger trains roam those rails between Dallas and Houston Texas

This trip was before it arrived at the 1984 Louisiana World's Fair in New Orleans, LA. Once the train arrived at Houston from the west, it made the trip north to Dallas and back recreating the Sunbeam route before heading on to New Orleans. After spending time at the fair, the train left New Orleans (I was riding on that trip) to Houston... it had an overnight stay and continued on west to San Antonio ultimately back to Portland, OR. Regardless, the video is priceless and thanks for posting it!

Aww man, 4449 passed through Navasota (Hometown) in 1984!!! Born 2 years too late :-(

In the very beginning,4449 is coming out of the curve thru my farm and crossing my driveway.....I was on the train that day to Dallas

At the 1:00 minute mark the video identifies the location as College Station.This is very incorrect. The bridge being crossed is the same one seen in the second video, crossing State Highway 6 in Robertson County. College Station was 12 route miles behind at this point, as was Bryan. I don't understand why no video was shot in College Station. The route would have passed through the campus of Texas A&M University and right across the street from the historic Kyle Field football stadium. A wonderful opportunity was missed to capture the Daylight with Kyle Field towering in the background. That same location was used in later years by UP when they parked the Challenger #3985 and its train there for a few hours on multiple occasions, as well as the E-unit passenger set at the former Amtrak shelter just south of the campus.

I sent my Mom the link to this video and she remembers when SP 4449 passed through Navasota. I have to say that this video along with your other two are the first and maybe only videos of Daylight 4449 in Texas that I have spotted on KZbin.

Hook Line & Sinker Im looking for information on this train or another that passed through Denton TX In the late 90's. It was headed North. First steam engine I have heard since as a boy in the late 50's. I had forgotten how loud they were. You could here it a couple of miles or more away. The whistle from much further. It renewed my interest in Steam locomotives since. There is nothing in this world that sounds so great. Can someone possibly give me info on what steam train may have come through Denton at that time? 97-2000?
