Winter time is here and that's when you see nice mahi show up in as shallow as 130ft depth off Islamorada. The sailfish are around too in this Fishing Catch and Cook!

Mahi off Islamorada is very common. Especially when offshore fishing around the Islamorada humps. There's something special about fishing off Islamorada and just fishing in the florida keys in general. In the winter time the mahi move closer to the reefs edge, I've seen mahi in as shallow as 80ft before!
We are right at alligator reef tower located in Islamorada and fishing offshore by the alligator reef tower will product a bite when you have the right baits at the right time
This is a catch and cook. But the cooking part is a little fast, sorry! Lots of more in depth catch clean and cooks coming to the South Florida Fishing Channel.

We catch mahi and sailfish on ballyhoo as bait.
We slow trolled the ballyhoo above reefs and wrecks and that's where we got hooked up on both the mahi mahi and sailfish. Keep the boat just in idle gear, enough to keep your bow into the current and the baits behind the boat.
