I can't thank you enough for turning me onto that Super Scraper years back! Thing is great. I just used it on a '02 Ram 1500 diff gasket that looked OE. This thing was WELDED onto the housing! Nearly broke the rotted out cover in half trying to pry it off, lol. I'd have been there for an hour chiseling and scraping had it not been for the Super Scraper - peeled the whole thing clean in 10 minutes flat! Even scraped off the rust that was starting to make it's way inward. Glad I didn't pick the OTC for my only scan tool - that would've been super frustrating. Surprised a company like OTC would let that thing go out to market like that. You'd think they have guys there that have been auto techs at some point? Great videos on this one man! 👍👍

It is so helpful to see you reach for different scan tools, comparing what is offered for specific practical applications. Of course data available on scan tools is a moving belt, so these tools all need updates that can be pretty expensive for the DIY market. Competition has fortunately brought the price of scanners within range for some. SnapOn must be choked to see their dominance slide.

The Bosch Group doesn't appear to care much about it's customers. I simply requested a replacement battery cover for their latest model scan tool, and they said it isn't available separately from the unit. I continued sending several emails to different people in the company and someone finally promised to send a cover, but I never received one.

Mr O. You know darn well that those "engineers" won't add or change a single thing about that scan tool unless it makes them profit. Kudos for asking though. In 3-4 years a big wig will be like " look at how we care so much for our customers" as they roll out the latest and greatest updates people have been begging for for the past 19 years. I painfully appreciate your advice on those one way ratchet wrenches as it came too late. A few days ago I got careless and backed a bolt out until the wrench contacted the curve on a driveshaft and there is no way to reverse the ratchet and screw the bolt back in. I had to cut the bolt to get my wrench out and spend another few hours trying to find a specialized oddball replacement bolt that was not in stock or available anywhere.

That valve looks to me to be a simple design. Would you try to see if a simple cleaning would fix it or are you too busy to bother?
@toddhowes77226 жыл бұрын
This valve is common on euro trash. VW/Audi, Volvo like to use them. VW/Audi ones tend to be vacuum controlled. VW/Audi like to mount the pump low so when they fail open they end up with condensation from the engine filling them with water, and the pump fails also.

Hey Eric!! I have an idea!! Get one of those automatic call on hold system, and put the youtubers on indefinite hold! Let it play some HORRIBLE ELEVATOR MUSIC, and come back to announce "YOUR CALL IS IMPORTANT TO US, PLEASE REMAIN ON THE LINE, AND YOUR CALL WIL BE ANSWER IN THE ORDER IT WAS RECIEVED! PLEASE HANG ON", every 30 seconds! I know they have those, I seem to be able to call one, at least once a week, sometimes twice! But, it's never from anyone that considers your call IMPORTANT, and could care less about your business!! Like when you call the DMV to find out how to get your license reinstated. Or when you call the hospital billing dept, to complain about being overcharged for an aspirin!! Or, when you call the power company, to report a power outage!! Or when you call 911, to report the old man next door that just got ran over by a Mack truck, or to report that some unknown people are breaking into your neighbors house, or to report the DRUNK DRIVER that you are following thru a school zone, and thru a parade route. (On a side note. Have you ever noticed that people are always crashing into buildings and such, or other vehicles, and always need an ambulance? However, you never see them crash into hospitals, and are never right there for the ER staff to come out and rescue them?) You know who never uses those call answer services? Small restaurants!! Businesses that are slowly going under! The "report a crime" tip line!! If you call a small restaurant, it's like the phone never rings, it is just instantly picked up. Like they have nothing else to do, and are patiently waiting for your call!! And they can never say the name of the restaurant clearly, so that you know that you called the correct, number! You call "Andrews Italian Bistro", and they answer the phone, "ANDS", and you don't know what they said, and ask, is this Andrews Italian Bistro, and they say "yeah, that's what I said, ain't it"! I used to work for a small local restaurant, WAFFLE HOUSE! (LOOK IT UP) And the mgr would answer the phone, "Waffhous mhelpya"! Or a retail outlet, that is going under! You call, and they answer half way thru the first ring, and detail every product they have, and announce that everything is half priced, before you get to say that you're sorry, but you dialed the wrong number! I hate it when you call the crime tip lines, where they say, "AND YOU DONT HAVE TO GIVE YOUR NAME! And you call, and tell the guy that answers the phone that there is a guy that you think is responsible for dumping large amounts of trash at the end of a local dead end street, and that you have his truck license number, and a description of his vehicle, and driver, and that you want to help clean up the city. And the guys thanks for the information, calls you by name, and quotes your address to where to send the anonymous check!! Turns out, it was a guy that you went to grade school with, that never forgets a voice!! He's like RAIN MAN!! He got a job at an anonymous crime tip line?? Really?? Or, an even better idea, to irritate and torture you tube callsers. Read this comment on tape, and play a loop of it. ONCE!! That'll stop them from calling back!!

What is the mechanical benefit of having the air pump valve and the air injection pump? My car does not have these things. Recently, the car does not want to start easily, rather takes time and a few key turns to do so. Is this failure related to such things that are missing?? The problem is recent. Video idea: For us DIYer's out there who curse scan tools, computers, and their very existence... You did another video that pointed out that for a rear brake job you needed a bi-directional scan tool. A lot of repairs are starting to need scan tools that can perform tests, activate components, etc. And those scan tools are the multi-thousand dollar types. So, in today's world, with technology as it is, and, we already have generic OBDII that can blue tooth to our phone, why isn't someone out there offering a fully functional, do it all, scan tool that is blue tooth, wi-fi, USB to OBD, through a PC, phone, or tablet, (or MAC) for a price of what it actually costs to produce, probably a couple hundred dollars? Looking at the scan tools, they appear to be PC based anyway. It really looks like someone took a tablet, slapped Snap-ON on it, and jacked up the price. Maybe I'm going a little conspiracy theory on this, but I feel like there is a lock down on that type of stuff, keeping it so expensive that the DIYer and even the private owned shops, like SMA, are forced to remain dependent on the dealer. Which, where I live, you can't get a repair done at a dealership for less than $400. The reason: if you don't know any better, let's say the situation is a bad ground, like in one of your other videos (a little Ford Sedan). At a dealership, that person would have got a new computer, probably a battery, and a few other components. And the ground cable would have been fixed during installation of those. Anyway, just throwing the idea out there. And, maybe a video on the best full function scan tool options for DIYers. (BTW, in my area, private owned garages are the way to go. We do have some squared away shops here.)
