I know this is an old comment but I heard they started them in the US market because they wanted Americans to compare them to Prismacolors, as that is what Derwent was trying to mimic with these. They wanted the stamp of approval from Prisma users before releasing them to the UK market, which is kind of strange, but whatever.

Hi! I have not tried the chromaflows yet but want to since they are now available open stock on Blick. I am reviewing old utubes on chromaflows and like to read the comments and saw where you must have got these a year ago and I was wondering how you feel about them after using them for a year. Thanks for any feedback you can give me, I know this comment is a year old. :)

I bought the twenty four piece of these pencils a month or two ago because I was curious about them. What I discovered was that the pencils were so soft that I had to keep sharpening them in order to keep a good point. As a result, some of the pencils wore down rather quickly. Also, one broke while I sharpened it and kept breaking until I had half a pencil. I got them from Amazon so I returned them.

Swatching Sunday, great idea! I just love seeing colors come together, and want to incorporate pencil in my watercolor pieces and this helped a lot. I grabbed a set of prisma colors in the recent pencil wars LOL I haven’t played with them enough. Something to look forward to!On to Lindsay’s video!

Awesome Video!!! I was shocked to get those pencils from Amazon Canada, I wish there was a true red in this collection. Basil and the turquoise green are my fav to use. So far my pencils have not brake from sharpening. I have not yet work with the white colour pencil yet. It took some layers to get some of the colour to really pop when colouring greyscale drawings. But soo far I am enjoying the collection and Derwent itself.

I've been subscribed to both of you for a while and was excited for the collab! I'm not sure how to feel about these pencils. The lack of lightfastness info would put me off of using them for anything other than practice, but they are cheap enough to be worth it for that.

Ok after all the reviews on these I defiantly have 2 suspicions 1) they are failed 'derwent lightfasts' everyone says they feel like lightfast but have no lightfastness ratings. I think they might just be the lightfasts that failed to be.. well, lightfast. 2) USA and India only? HMMMM.... could seriously be because of a restricted or banned toxic additive/chemical that the USA and India permit and most other countries have banned. I'd avoid touching them once on the paper just in case they are toxic. Or simply a chemical required to be labeled as potentially harmful elsewhere. I'd check if they are technically being sold 'in' California because California specifically has strict toxic labeling laws. They could avoid this by not selling technically 'in' shops located in California. I could be wrong and it could just be to 'test the waters' in the 'best markets' before deciding to sell them everywhere else. Makes me what to know however. I think I'm not too interested up in Canada Derwent Lightfast seems far more worth the investment frankly. Mostly I keep watching reviews and think about the mysteries around these and start theorizing.... Maybe that's the answer; they left these mysteries just to make buzz, discussions and interest in these pencils. Added intentional mystery to intrigue the consumer into buying to 'find out'?

Great review, I love how the pansy turned out. So beautiful. I hate when the sd card lets you down, it always sucks. I also agree Lindsey is great!

Word is that these are a student grade pencil and will be marketed as such in the future, and they do not have a high lightfastness and are made for work to be scanned or photographed.The pigments are different to apparently give a more bright/vibrant colour cast hence the word 'Chroma' in the name,they are probably going to best suited for colouring books or sketchbooks. I also think the colour range is small to encourage blending and mixing through layering. Derwent is now part american owned and people are speculating this accounts for the changes in their pencil ranges and the recent price hikes and more ranges being retired earlier. I love derwent pencils and have done for years,but I don't think these wil become part of my derwent cache. I think these are also aimed at a beginners who want a decent pencil to start off with (derwent is a good brand to begin with for sure). All three sunday ideas sound good and maybe alternating each type each sunday,the image of the pansy looked great on the toned paper,your eye make up was really cool in this video.

Hey Jane I love your Pansy it’s so pretty!!!! Seeing them makes me happy. I’m not in a hurry to purchase these. I’d rather buy the Inktense pencils first. Then I’m going to start buying the Polychromos. Sadly when I started I originally started with Prismacolor (they were good then, went to hell). I’m waiting on Blick to get the Holbein complete set online back in stock so I can order it. I have the 24 set but I want the complete set. They keep pushing the date back. 😕 Still, I’m not going to use them for everyday drawings or colorings. Then I’m going to replace the Prismacolor with some Polychromos. I’ll keep my Luminesce and my Lightfast sets along with the Holbeins (when I get them). Professional or good work that I want to use good quality products on. Everyone loves Lindsay but when it comes to colored pencils I VOTE for Caran d ache, Holbein and Derwent drawing. I know Caran d ache is over the moon expensive but lovely to work with.
