More tips for flying with Southwest Airlines and using the Customer of Size policy
1) Take advantage of pre-boarding and get on the plane first so that you can take your time choosing your seat. Getting on the plane first will allow you to get through the aisle more comfortably.
2) Ask for a seatbelt extension as soon as you get on the plane. This will allow for the process to be more discreet. Southwest has unique seatbelts, and while you can purchase your own online, they have a policy stating that only the seatbelt extensions they provide are allowed to be used on their aircraft.
3) Consider using a middle seat as your reserved seat so that you have more room to move and sit comfortably.
4) Bring a blanket or something cushiony to put down on the seat(s) you'll be sitting on if you think you might take up more than one seat. Sitting between seats can be uncomfortable, but bringing something soft to sit on can help tremendously.
5) Consider deplaning last and getting off once the other passengers are off the plane. This will allow you time to get your carry-on and get through the aisles without pushing past other passengers.
