Branford has absolutely no problem disagreeing the person he's talking to. It really sort of throws the other person off and they don't know where to go next because most people don't do that. But it's really refreshing to see, and there is nothing wrong with it. Branford obviously thinks a LOT about the things he mentioned in the interview. He really is a deep thinker. I hope he puts his multitude of thoughts into some coherent written form. His honesty and lack of pretension is rare, and a good long book would be very welcome by many.

Super Dope talk! Would’ve loved to hear what records Justin Faulkner was given to help him expand his jazz vocabulary ( 19:07 ) Is there a recording of the interview in its entirety?

What were Branford's record recommendations for Justin Faulkner? The edit cut it off!

I hung out with Justin Faulkner backstage once and he said that when he joined Branford's group, B gave him a hard drive with 1000's of songs, and then told him to listen, and then when they would be on the road they would start talking about tracks that were on the hard drive, laughing, pointing out awesome musical phrases, rhythmic moments, etc....I wish I could remember the exact pieces Justin mentioned

Jazz in society, Branford has an interesting perspective. Like what he said about movies, they aren’t about truth they about what sells. I think ideas, perceptions like that help explain our current ‘post-truth’ society.

please more stories and explanation ;-) I have to hear this again and again. can we do subtitels? he deserves it. guys how I loved the Music Evolution Album! I was 22 when I bought it! in graphic design its kinda the same. it can be very interesting beeing a "sideman" but usually it sucks haha! money is not everything. I like to be a local banksy. man I disagree in Germany things are possible!!!!!!!! its okay when you do no more want to jam with younger musicians so often. I understand that from a graphic designer point of view. hey can you help me doing this and that? can I look over your shoulder? I say try to make your own thing. no shit. so when Bradford or you guys ever come to Germany I invite you in DIE BÖRSE WUPPERTAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Branford lost all credibility after he said Weather Report went downhill after Jaco joined the band.
