I have this and made it the same way but the problem I ran into is that if someone is still in the bed you can't easily slide it or access anything from below without disturbing them ie; having them get off the bed. I later changed the design from the cabinet style front panel to an open frame design that can be covered with a cloth material with easier access.

Jason, Your video is the most complete ‘start-to-finish video on how to build a project. You might not know this, but for people like me, it is a real treasure to watch. Nothing frustrates me more than for a video to begin a demonstration and then just leap over critical steps! Grrrrr! Anyway, you did great and thanks so much for sharing your skill. If you have time, could you think over a design for building a trundle bed for a bus?

Great video! You always do quality work. My parents had an Airstream for years. My dad said that is the easiest pulling trailer out there because it is so aerodynamic. Such a great idea. I was searching for a way to convert a window seat into a twin bed for guests. I'm building in the country and when friends visit I'm sure some won't want to drive all the way back to the city. So this is an extra bed without bunking. This gives me a lovely window seat in the guest bedroom with storage and a twin bed in addition to the queen in the guest room. The added benefit is that the only thing I need to put in the closet is the remaining cushion to fill the gap once pulled out. Thank you so much!!! I've sketched out the plan and will start once the home is built. Breaking ground in 2 weeks!!!

Well done! Enjoyed the simplicity of construction of the bed, and the way you left it open (and hinged) inside for storage, which is so important in campers. The handhold holes I thought were simply an elegant way of enabling gripping it for pullout.

That's well built, well attached, and super custom. I only think about worst case scenario's though. It's only a matter of time before a knuckle head doesn't keep the windows caulked, and leaks rot the floor. All that hard work will have to be torn out to replace the floor. I would have built it to be removable. Either way it would be years before that happens. Really good job.

I recently ordered a day bed/trundle bed built in a similar way. Instead of the trundle part sliding out from under the day bed, half of the slats pull out like yours forming the other half of the bed. You simply add a twin mattress to each half forming a king size bed. It doesn’t lift up for storage like your creative piece, but it does have 2 drawers that can slide open even when the extra bed is pulled out. I am absolutely sure the quality is not even close to yours, but hopefully it will work for a guest room. Thanks for sharing another of your many talents.
