This band has so much talent, it's honestly painful that they don't have the recognition they deserve.

John Sturt Good for us then, so we can great music like this among ourselves. And the rest can live for their plastic pop music, with their "hot" "artists"

Two days ago I was cleaning my flat and suddenly found the album of this band..GOD! How could I forget about them? So I decided to listen and began to cry! Oh! My sweet past, sweet memories, sweet young times... Time passes too quikly. (T_T)

Yeah pal, I'm afraid I fucking know what you mean: this song and many songs of Fields sounds so nostalgic, dark and melancholic at the same time. Someway or better said; one way or the other way it reminds you at those marvellous New Wave days back in the eighties, nineties and zero's. It sureley makes you wanna cry and makes you fucking long for those days when we were young (I'm 57 years now and I'm still enjoying Fields, Sisters Of Mercy, The Mission, Type O Negative, The Cure, Joy Division, The Sound, The Virgin Prunes, etcetera), fucking 'dark' happy, free and part of a fucking proud scene. I really miss those days like hell; those were the days of my lífe. But I'm still wearing fucking black clothes and my Grinders boots and I'm still fucking proud to be and to think alternative. Alternative forever 'till I die!🤘

I have to apologize; I really didn't know this outstanding FOTN song. Waaaauw, if this isn't awesome and thrilling at the same time; I really wouldn't know anymore! Gothic, melancholic, dark, heavy, nostalgic, etcetera. McCoy's dark and heavy voice, with this very typical Fields sound is from such a huge and high level. Together with the astonishing and very dedicated crowd as well as with the live recording, this video is amazing to the max! Just enjoy and find yourself in a sort of an other dimension for almost twelve minutes. Very dreamy, dark, heavy and catchy.

***** : Isn't it 'Elysium for the sleepless souls' or are you referring to what the fans of Fields can tap into?

It's Elysium for the sleepless souls, a resting place.

Elysium is place (a 'field' of influence) for the dead, whether it's 'restful' is sometimes up to us, and sometimes up to 'the powers'.

Just listening to the song somehow leaves me breathless and when it’s over the sense of loss that I feel is palpable. They’ve achieved a complex mystical sound that just blows the mind in its complexity. They can’t be replicated by anyone and even if they could be it would just be a dull and lifeless facsimile.

I have known Carl McCoy for some 20 odd years now. He is a very close and dear friend. We met at a protest site called 9 Ladies in the U.K. which was there to protect a neolithic stone circle (we were successful BTW) We bonded over a mutual love of spaghetti westerns, Steam punk, 80's horror B-movies and the occult. He gave me a T-shirt with 'Satan is love' written on it with a picture of a 'Sad Sam' style puppy on it which I wore til it fell apart. We both felt modern Satanism was a complete joke but we did appreciate Anton LaVey's iconoclastic and sarcastic sense of humour. The Neph's are playing Sheffield in December hopefully (if it isn't cancelled) So I hope to catch up with Carl then. Can't wait. ;-)

Wychowałem się na płycie Elizium. Uwielbiam ten styl. To nie gotyk, raczej muzyka mistyczna, biblia, sumerowie, pracywilizacje. No i stylizacja western, ennio morricone. Koniecznie słuchamy ze zrozumieniem tekstów piosenek.
