In fact in this video I just wanted to show you the incredibly beautiful reactions between titanium and iodine in slowmo, but later I decided to increase the duration of the video a little and added some footages of titanium tetraiodide (TiI4) to it. Enjoy!

I also work in an organic chemistry lab, and this is the most magical thing I've seen in maybe forever. If you want brown or off-white, our lab can make anything under the sun. One time we made some orangey-yellow!

Of that, I have no doubt. I went to college once upon a time and thought I too might want to be a science. School was awesome. Upon my first job interview I was shown the lab and my cubical... Never to return. Again went to school. Became a machinist. Coolest most awesomer never boring job I could have dreamed for. I still nerd. But in a more tangible way. Much respect to the real sciencers though. I just couldnt stand the periods of quiet nothings.

Stunningly beautiful reactions! Nobody else in the world comes close to your ability to turn chemistry into a cinematic experience. Unrelated, but are there any interesting chemical reactions you could do with any noble gas compounds like xenon difluoride? If it's colourful 9/10 times it's highly toxic. If it does its job well, 9/10 times is also toxic or can kill you in 7 different ways before breakfast. For example, you can get a lot of paints made from various minerals etc, but nowadays it's extremely hard to get them in bright yellow and reds, as they tend to be the highly toxic ones (think cadmium yellow, mercury compounds etc). Daniel Smith's primatek colours are a good example of modern mineral based paints. Definitely some colours missing, more muted in colour and the reason why is the least toxic ones are used (comparatively). For context, am a chemist with a love for pigments so you bet I got some samples of the paints. The Lapis lazuli one can suck it.
