Thoughts on Assault Class: The Assault class is fun to play but not up to par when compared to other classes. I think a good comparison is the Vanguard class with a grappling hook to close up the distance to enemies so both abilities work in a similar fashion. Though Vanguard has a Melta rifle which does decent damage, good crowd control, and stagger against elites, so you can jump in and deal with a crowd fairly easily. Whereas for Assault class, jumping in with the jetpack gives you the initial stagger, but you can only follow up with melee or the pistol which don't do very well against crowds. The class definitely needs a bit of a buff, either giving more melee speed/damage/stagger or even just buffing the hammer since it is exclusive to the Assault class (in case the default melee mechanics are tied to other classes). Either that or more sustainability perks after diving into a crowd. Some of the runs here were only possible because the bots are tanky as hell. I'm by no means an expert in Assault class, having only maxed it the day before. I decided to try it out on the Ruthless difficulty operations in a solo playthrough as I have done that with the Tactical class. My Twitch stream disconnected during the Vox mission so there were some jumps in between. You can see the full live attempt here which took us about 6 hours (kzbin.info7mmPm54x4_M).

Wow really impressive, too bad the hammer doesnt seem to be the best option wich is sad considering its exclusive to the assault class, hope they'll buff it soon, anyway my thoughts were: " Wow this guy just showed us every mission done with assault class, really cool"

Thanks! Yeah, the hammer looks really cool but feels a bit slow while I was levelling it. The Chaos missions were only manageable because of how tanky the bots are 😅

Great video brother! Would a build work with wings of flame, aerial grace and commitment? Wings of flame might help with dealing with crowds? It's something I'd like to try but commitment is right at the end of the tree 😅

Yes! I was just playing with it yesterday - check out my latest video! Though dodge timings are much harder to get than parry timings. I'm not sure how much damage wings of flame do, but the ability to get 10% CD with kills from jump pack feels more impactful.

I haven't watched any build videos, just went with this setup while levelling and learning the class. There are always perks that are just more effective, so naturally you'll see majority of players using the same stuff.

For that I use the Hammer with fencing so I can parry him and stand toe to toe. I did that with Bulwark but the parry is so slow I was perfect dodging anything I could. But this dude is crazy good with chainsaw

I don’t see why you use chain sword. If you’re guna use chain sword you might as well use any other class.. makes zero sense. The assault class is literally kitted towards the hammer. Tactical would be way better for chain sword.

I don't see why not; it is an option for a reason. The point of the run was to play around with Assault class abilities, I don't see how they are tied specifically to the hammer. The melee mechanics pre-patch wasn't that forgiving either - you're most of the time just kiting around and having the slower hammer makes it a pain against chaos enemies. So I opted for the chain sword which feels more usable at that time. Also, like I said in the comments, I only maxed the class the day before so I'm likely not using the hammer to its full potential and did not use it in the run.

I wouldn't call it rubbish as it is playable but is on the weaker side. Mainly because melee is kind of weak and you have spongy mobs, while other classes have access to OP weapons like melta rifle.
