For the rundown apartment complex idea, you could leave room for the elevator as though it used to be there. The stairs could go up behind/beside the shaft. And you could maybe even have a broken SG elevator in the bottom of the shaft with something inside it like a SG-small cargo inside it for loot chances.

Is it me or is the ejector/collector unloading strangely satisfying? To see all the components you collected fall into your base one by one gives you a weird feeling of accomplishment. I think my next base will have an ejector/collector pair behind glass that constantly rotates the contents of my cargo containers. Maybe even with a seat in front of it, so I can sit there and stare at it. :D

My usual case for collectors is between a spherical gravity generator (set to 0.005g, very large radius) and a small mining vehicle in zero g. It lets me just drill while ejecting ore in the general direction of a massive ore hauler (or refining base), instead of making trips back and forth. Much faster that way and docking less often means less opportunities to accidentally damage your connectors. The "funnel" is just a large expanse of flat plate to stop rocks from going past the collector. On the subject of toddlers and dogs, if you let the dog lick a small child too often, eventually the child will learn to lick him back. Basic socialization, but dog-influenced. Some parents regard this as suboptimal.

I found collectors very useful for unloading a small drone used to grind down a large ship wreck. I could just fly into position and press a button without having to mess around in the menus. Did lead to the occasional steel plate spill when I forgot to turn off the ejection, though :P

had a thought when you went looking for another flatbed truck, and someone commented about the box van.... what if you were to fit a camper van on the back of the flatbed, but instead of it being a camper inside, you could swap out most the interior and replace it with the O2 and H2 tanks :) so a camper carrying space truck crater maker :D

There must be code written to allow objects to pass through a connector and maybe you could mod it to prevent ice and ores from passing. I haven't thought this through, lol but a variation of this could force people to use collectors on a base.

Perhaps force small connectors only and tag ice/ore as too large for small conveyors? That being said, you'd need 3x3 conveyors everywhere on small grid and you'd run in to problems with drills and their small ports... Hm..

I finally downloaded the scenario and I have to say it has reinvigorated the game for me. Not that I had mastered the game in other modes, but this has added a new level of challenge to me and I don’t feel as if I’m dodging lightning or avoiding conflicts constantly. 1:52:00 The edge case is probably when you help someone weld up their craft. They wouldn't want you taking ownership of every block that you bring above the "Hack" line. But that could easily be handled by keeping the ownership of every friendly block that you weld, but you taking over every hostile block that you weld. [edit:] At 1:54:47 Splitsie goes on to say the exact same thing. I should have kept watching.

I love the concept of this mod, can't wait to try it with my buddy. I need a trouble shooting mod that highlights conveyor systems like the hostile take over does for the control seats and beds. Mostly because I goofed on a ship and don't want to strip it down to find out where I messed a connection up😂

Did a grid wipe last time I was in the scenario to get some of the new spawns🤙 A few did have some issues upon spawn, some I came upon were just a crater and a few bits of scrap. Some of the new sheds also spawn too low, half the small grid shelf was buried in the ground. Still enjoyable as ever though🤙😆

IMHO, should`ve put surival kit, H2O2 and a tank on the roof, in a way that Survival Kit`s interface would be accessible from the inside. Would look like a travel camper\bus with luggage on the top. Thruster - IDK, could go on the top or can be piped to be on the back side of it. Would also give much more space for the inside and much more gribble.

so um... a few things, first... above the side door should be woodgrain small storage containers (if you've lived in a mobile home you know, woodgrain cabinets wherever they fit). second, i would have doubled up the hydrogen generators (because it looks like a v4 and there's no way that truck's running a 4 banger. doubled up it looks like proper v8). third i would have figured out a way to put your breaking thrust on top of the engine bay so it looks like a blower...yeehaw! (before anyone says "fire out of the carb throats?" yeah, it happens if the timing's off. Seen my dad lose a perfectly decent set of eyebrows to a fire-belching edelbrock 4 barrel trying to get the '70 chevelle running)

1:15:22 IMO easiest way to encourage H2 as power source, is to remove all medium batteries and use "No More Free Energy". This makes heavy aircrafts much more interesting and costly.

@1:13:00 Look up "Icarus - Fully Solar Powered Atmospheric Sun Chaser" on the workshop. I've got a fully solar powered sky base concept based off a sun chaser I made. It takes a massive amount of solar panels to counteract a meaningful base mass but it works. I've got a basic flying fortress i'm working on that's pretty stable. I just wish the solar tracker part of the CTC wouldn't stop working on world load. I'm using the rotor angle of the Solar CTC to do a gyro override for Yaw. Script to keep it level. Script isn't needed it's just far more stable. It keeps it from being a pendulum swinging under the sun. Works with a 1 hour day. Any faster and the altitude drops to much.

I would have to agree with Splitsie on this one. No Build and Repair. The only way I would like Build and repair is if it only worked in pressurized environments, like a garage. Otherwise, it's way to OP.

I wanted the ore/component transfers to work like that too, but it IS way to slow to be practical. Only thing I can think of is have a lot of connectors tossing stuff at once. The other way is to make the mass of the ejection greater so the connector/ejectors just toss out more stuff at once.

Splitsie, Would incorporating a hinge below the flight seat with a few blocks attached, with a mag plate be a good way to give you a "nested" landing/grabbing appendage? You could set limits to rotate it facing forward and straight down as needed when scavenging bits?

One option with the connectors is to make the large connector unbuildable so you have to scavenge it but you can still use the small grid small connector for recharging. There is a mod that lets you build an adapter to go from large grid to small grid I think it's called large to small grid without limits and I would recommend that in this case. Frankly I think that should just be in the vanilla game anyway. The other option I can think of is to disable building connectors entirely and use something like the power cables mod. That still connects the grids as if they were hooked up through a connector but doesn't allow any items to transfer. It does seem a little overpowered in how easy it is to hook up two grids though.

That mod by the way just acts like an LG rotor with an SG head where the rotation is locked and share inertia tensor is enabled. Most of the time, I use it so I can fit a bunch of programming and timer blocks in one LG block space.

Not sure if collectors have “pull” or not but if you where to place them on either side facing the connectors would you just be able to fly between them and eject cargo and move on vs it dropping in the collection chutes?

Only a few bits can be made😁 Assembler and survival kit have been nerfed hardcore. We don't get a refinery until we get to Space. I have over 100 hours in this scenario so far and it's been super fun🤘😁

Omg after 3k hours i figured out T actually has a function…. Know how you try to place a row of pistons they always go either sideways or backwards randomly….. well T seems to fix that.

They're required for the functionality of the block (se requirement) and destroying them is the only way to make things attach directly. In my opinion it's a fair balance and considering it's setup is for a more vanilla experience with mining a pair of computers is near meaningless
