Not only did Lucas endorse this movie, he let them use ILM (the VFX studio he founded) to do the VFX for it which is why the production value is so high. His only condition was that they couldn’t sell any products related to the film, hence the merchandising gag.

So many people ask "Why did they even put a reverse function on it to begin with?" and it boggles my mind every time I hear someone ask that. They are stealing the air because their planet is running out of air... they would need a way to get it back out when they get back to their planet lol.

Rambo is an awesome movie. The first one is not only an action movie, but explores PTSD, survivor's guilt, and how America treated returning Vietnam vets, among other things. Each subsequent Rambo sequel does go heavy on the action but they all still posed some sort of commentary on war. Rambo II was about the lost Vietnam POWs Rambo III was about the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Rambo (2008) was about the Myanmar/Burmese conflict that was going on during the mid 2000's. Rambo: Last Blood touched on subjects of the Mexican Cartels.

The scene with Pizza the Hut could only be filmed once. The interior of the costume was practically an oven. Think about it, that was real melted cheese, sauce, bread and pepperoni. The actor had to be pulled out due to heat exhaustion (if not heat stroke). Afterwards, the actor received medical advice not to get in the costume again and then he refused to do so once he was back on set. No other actors would get in the costume after they saw what happened to the original actor, so they had to use what film they managed to get on the first and only recording.

That radar scene was a cameo of Michael Winslow. He was also in _Police Academy_ He bills himself as “The Man Of 10,000 Sound Effects”, as every single sound effect-the radar pings, the static, the PA page, to describing “The Sweeps, the Bleeps and the Creeps” is made with his own mouth. He’s got some old standup that’s hysterical, specifically the one about him renting a truck.

You mention that Lonestarr looks like knockoff Indiana Jones. George Lucas helped Mel Brooks a bunch on the production of this movie, and he asked that the hero not look like Harrison Ford's character Han Solo. So Mel Brooks made him look like Harrison Ford's character Indiana Jones (another George Lucas movie) instead.

The opening scene with the loooooooong ship reveal is a poke at Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey which had sequences just like this, unironically :P Prince Valium is a joke on what wives in the 80's used to do when they were tired of dealing with their husbands, they'd "go sleep with Prince Valium" (Valium being a sedative drug "We all know Prince Valium's a pill!" says Dot)

When they are walking up to the statue of Yogurt is also a reference to the in " The Wizard of Oz" when they've walking up to see the Wizard. The dinks that rescue them in the desert is a reference to " Snow White and the Seven Dwarves " and " Star Wars ". Valium is a medicine that can knock you out. Hence Prince Valium is always starting to fall asleep. The man with the alien coming out of him is John Hurt. The same thing happened to him in "Alien". That's why he said " Oh no. Not you again ". The head of megamaid and apes seeing it is a reference to " The Planet of The Apes " first movie. Great that you saw the Millennium Falcon at the restaurant. Most people don't see it until someone tells them.

Fun fact. George Lukas loved this movie, he okayed the Millennium Falcon cameo (well spotted by the way, most people miss it). The merchandising company for Star Wars on the other hand, played hard ball. This movie was only allowed if they agreed to do *no merchandising of any kind.* That caused 2 changed to this movie, the merchandising scene and the name of the 'force' knockoff. See, the *Schwartz* company did the merchandising for Star Wars. So the 'greatest power in the universe' was Schwartz merchandising.

Fun fact: one of the conditions this movie was made on was that they weren't allowed to produce any merchandise for it because they didn't want Spaceballs merch to compete with merch from the movies it was parodying. So, thus was born the merchandising scene in the movie. A bunch of stuff you can't actually get. And darn, I really wanted that Spaceballs: The Flame Thrower too. I'd have loved that as a kid! 😆

"FIRST BLOOD", the first movie of the Rambo-series is a real classic, a fantastic action-movie that's in no way cheesy and has some serious topics. An absolute "Must See"! "RAMBO - FIRST BLOOD II" is perhaps the ultimate 80s action-movie (although a little bit cheesy). I also recommend this. "RAMBO III" - nah, it's just too much. "RAMBO" (the fourth one), is also a good actionfilm - and very bloody! "RAMBO: LAST BLOOD" had some mixed reviews, but I liked it anyway. Very dark, very brutal and a great finale. Also recommended.
