The Jean Claude Van Damme and John Woo masterpiece 'Hard Target' is such an incredible display of awesomeness, that it blows my mind that other movies even exist. What reason could anyone have for watching something where Van Damme doesn't standing straight up and shooting while riding a motorcycle? Or punching a snake for getting uppity? Yeah, I know, Yancy Butler's eyebrows are super weird but you also have Wilford Brimley as a drunken Robin Hood and if you're still reading this instead of watching the movie then consider yourself dead to me.

Now then, if I may be so bold, kind sir, as to humbly offer my own suggestion, should you deem it worthy: the lost treasure of “Split Second” featuring Rutger Hauer perhaps?

An actual fact, Hard Target was John Woo's first U.S. film and was also the first major Hollywood film made by a Chinese director. Universal Pictures was nervous about having Woo direct a feature and sent in director Sam Raimi to look over the film's production and to take Woo's place as director if he were to fail. Woo went through several scripts finding mostly martial arts films with which he was not interested. After deciding on Pfarrer's script for Hard Target, Woo wanted to have actor Kurt Russell in the lead role, but found Russell too busy with other projects. Woo then went with Universal's initial choice of having Van Damme star. *_Woo got along with Van Damme during filming and raised the amount of action in the film as he knew that Van Damme was up for it._*

The movie that introduced me to director John Woo. If you're not familiar with this legendary Hong Kong director, check out ''Better Tomorrow 1 & 2'', ''The Killer'' and ''Hard Boiled''. Some of the greatest action movies ever made. Oh and of course, John Woo also directed the mega-blockbuster- hit movie, ''Face/Off'' Starring Nicholas Cage!

that "action scene" in hard boiled is quite well done, wonder how many times they had to train for it, not like you can just reset the stage

Unlike the Gravy Seal Seagull, the bad guys in JCVD movies usually ARE a threat. They are treated with a minimum respect and make you believe that at least, things aren't going to end that well for the good guys. Imhotep and Lance Henriksen are fucking BADASS here. THE CALCULATIONS! HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAAA

@@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 That stab Henriksen puts on the old man and the way Imhotep casually blows off a guy with a shotgun on a car are great ways to show the audience the guys are menacing enough to face the lead character. Seagal movies are all exactly the same and all people is doomed and useless from the start.

I mean, Lance Henriksen is THE F'ING MAN! In fact, JCVD is the only entity capable of killing Bishop aside from a xenomorph queen! Hell in this film Van Damme not only kills the synth Bishop, but also The Mummy and Darkman (Arnold Vosloo!!) And I learned when this came out as an impressionable youth to always be careful when I show my wallet.
