Literally the reason behind the name of the game is about citizenship. What we were originally told is characters who are imported from a Squadron playthrough that won will have not just things like access to the Lightning, but also Citizenship. Characters not imported could earn it (but not the other rewards). Think of it like Starship Troopers, or more accurately like ancient Rome, which was a major inspiration for the story. No, it isn't only Citizens who can do base building. Only Citizens are allowed to buy land on some planets (think Bullseye here). Can you imagine the uproar of everyone who bought a Pioneer found out they had to do an entire mission series just to use it AT ALL? Basebuilding will go in with all building sizes. They said the Starlancer BLD *and the Pioneer* "will become available with basebuilding". I'm pretty sure the Pioneer is holding up basebuilding so they CAN launch it with all building sizes more than basebuilding needing all that work itself. "If they sold pets..." Second to last stretch goal before they stopped adding them, at $64m, was pets. That's why they keep mentioning it, especially with the kopions. They're coming. The Starlancer doesn't fill any hole between the Taurus and Corsair. The Corsair 74 and the Taurus 200; there are plenty of ships in that area including the MSR, CL, and Freelancer MAX. The Starlancer MAX is also above the Taurus, at 224. Now, if it were a gap being discussed between the Taurus and the Hercules, I'd say you have more of a point since the Hull B and Railen are both still in concept. There's a difference between changing a concept ship that is still in concept, with its gameplay yet to be put in the game, compared to a ship that needs changed because it's in the game and was before its gameplay was added, so it no longer makes sense. Both of those are different from changing a ship that was added with its gameplay in the game, flown for years, and then dramatically changed without warning (especially after a recent price increase "to reflect its capabilities" and shortly before a new ship gets added at the same price point, doing the same thing it used to do, but with added benefits). John Crewe specifically said one rain for the Ironclad is to get assets for starting on the Kraken. I think the message was the next capital after the Polaris is the Kraken. Master Modes is all the evidence you need to understand that when CIG says a system will force you to play the way they want you to, they WILL force you no matter how blatant it is. I'm sorry, instanced fleet battles? I sat at my computer and watched the entire presentation while awake (so not live), and skipped interviews outside the actual panels. When did anyone mentioned this? Don't recall it being mentioned at all.
@bilbob4g1nz10 күн бұрын
The Citizen part has been explained before; you become a Citizen via playing Squadron 42, and if you do not have that, you would just be a civilian (Base Star Citizen). With what has been mentioned now, you have an access route without needing SQ42. SQ42 just allows for skipping the line (sort of).

That would make it's cargo hold make a lot of sense and really usefull too for exploration. You could load up and explore find a planet and have the materials in a hold to build a small research station. Also a bit of a correction on not being able to fly in heavy suits. I think the problem with blades is that each one will count as an NPC for purposes of the server having to consider the logic With too many big ships you are going to have issues of needing so many blades that the server will be spending all its time working on that instead of encounters unless they prioritize encounters... then the blades will be sitting around for minutes before noticing the fire they have to put out or shoot at enemy ships. As much as I would like to have blades it makes a lot of sense to put them on the back burner. They didn't talk about hacking or computers so my guess all of that will come in on a 1.1 patch. I do hope they get the boarding ship in by the time those stations come online. going to be a lot of boarding actions with the stations. Oh the biggest minor cool features is with the stations and bases we will finally have a reason to use the PTV. they talked a lot about roads I like that they went with a more V-rising / last oasis style skill system. instead of it being some actual skill like skyrim you hunt down better and better gear you level up by working through the tech tree of gear and blueprints until you reach the level you want. As a solo to small group player I can see it looking a big dangerous for us but if we can form alliances then we can just form our own org and ally with the local big org and in return offer gear or repairs or something. or maybe form an alliance of small groups and instead of huge ship actions it would be lots of small surgical strikes that weaken them until another org can take them on. There is some room with alliances to allow small groups to get into bigger action if needed. Ship mining could definitely be changing. I wonder if there will be a head option that just bores down to ores instead of just rock mining. So you can pick the right head for what you want to do. Will this be an option for the mole? only problem with that ship is boring if it takes a long time is terrible for the outer wings. no one wants to sit and wait for the bags to fill. they would have to rework the mole or just not give it that feature. Overall I think its all looking good.

IMO the Ironclad can easily become a base building/manufacturing ship, with all the portable/mobile equipment introduced at Citcon. Even repairing itself and refueling with ROC mining along with the portable refineries. It will also be ingame way before the Pioneer or Starlancer base builder ship.

MDA: The date is like the ten second timer, you know you can do it in five seconds and have five seconds spare... but because you have those ten seconds ticking away this causes stress and you are more likely to need more than five seconds. This is the aesthetic of time, not having a date is a good thing and 2026 is not "two" years away... we are in 2024 one year away is October 2025 and 2026 is only two months later!

You guys talk about sub flairs, on how to get them back, the same would be for concierge items. Not a word about it on CitCon either. Normally those items will be back when they reset their servers, but that will end (most likely) after the 1.0 My take on it are that there should be a terminal next to the ship terminal, but for items that are account based (not for items that are bought ingame). That will also include items that you got through any kind of reward, and are account based. This could have been solved years ago, and still its not in the game, and they refuse to even talk about it. If the items have been stolen, they should after its reclaimed, the original item should be marked as stolen, just as ship that have been stolen will be marked as stolen once its reclaimed.

Wasn't it so, that if you finished the SQ42 campaign, you could transfer your stats to the MMO ? Meaning your citizen status and rep could already been build by playing through the singleplayer OR you go through it again, or first time, in the MMO ??

Do you think sq42 will still reward citizenship? I think it makes sense, since it would kind of work as a "new player experience"
@justalex421410 күн бұрын
For me all this citcon did was make me worry about the game's future. Not because the lack of details of the 1.0 presentation, but rather because of the time frame. Sq42 is still 2 years away once again and 1.0 5 to 7, or more. There's no guarantee that CIG can even keep the funding going for such a long period of time. What if sq42 flops? What if their ship sales events don't generate enough revenue anymore? They were already pushing pretty hard this year. Once the money dries up it's pretty much game over. This is what scares the hell out of me.
@Fractured67611 күн бұрын
My biggest concern from citcon, is them saying they wont have 100 systems and i dont remember them giving us any number after that. Are we just going to get 5-10? Or we looking at 50+ still? Everything else was awesome.

When i see the stuff for 1.0, its hard for me to guess. The wild estimates of 5-7 years feel like they are based off of a state that the game is no longer in. However, saying 1.0 is like 2 years away feels like its overly ambitious and not reflective of the technical and gameplay challeneges that need to be resolved in a long slog before then. The systems for many of the features are not all that far off. They have kitbash pieces for stations and they have engineering stuff in the works, which will all essentially drive the same permission systems in game for ships, stations, and bases. I think they will have most of the basic 1.0 ideas in game in two years, but i dont think it will be ready for primetime in two years. They will need to make the game stable and tested while improving the player experience in too many areas. As such, i think 3 years for 1.0 release is close, but we will get a good chunk of the systems working within in the next two.

I thought it was bizarre that they spent most of the last presentation basically giving a text-heavy lecture on what was essentially just "lore"... and then they rolled out the concept art for player run stations. Like, it makes me think of Bethesda Games and Starfield and how they've used up people's goodwill in terms of recycling the same old ideas and strategies. I think most people just roll their eyes now when SC reveals something like player controlled stations because we all know they're at least 5 years away - so why even mention them now? Tell us in 4 years time when they're just around the corner like any normal developer! 😡
@ChristoffRevan10 күн бұрын
Um, this is open alpha development, they tell us these things because they're being transparent about what path they are taking. This is the first time I've heard someone whine about being given too much information, usually people whine about thinking they don't hear enough 😂
@CatsAreRubbish10 күн бұрын
@@ChristoffRevan Wake up. Literally NOTHING they showed us this weekend will be anywhere near the game for 2 years at least, most of it 5 years. That's not normal. Other games that are big enough to have their own conventions will show off stuff that is ready to play, next season's content (the next 6-12 months of content) and maybe a teaser for their next game which is still a few years out... not wall-to-wall concept art and flavour text of the next 5 year's proposed roadmap.
@johnkim571810 күн бұрын
@@CatsAreRubbish Bro if they mention dates you whine, if they don't mention dates you automatically assume it's 5 years out and whine. What do you want them to do? Also, if you pay attention, while they don't mention dates, the vast majority of what we saw will be in next year. This is basically confirmed by the fact that the Pioneer is on the ship roadmap to be released next year, and they specifically show in one of the slides for the Pioneer that it will be released AFTER base building is implemented. That means base building is released next year. Furthermore, base building basically has crafting as a requirement, on top of the Pioneer having internal manufacturing bays to build small ships and vehicles, so that also confirms crafting for next year.

@@johnkim5718 Nice strawman. If they confidently said "this, this and this will be released on 15th May 2025" I'd be perfectly happy... But they never do that, I wonder why? /s (they'd just end up delaying anyway). When they DON'T mention dates I just assume that it'll be EXACTLY as it's always been... years away or simply swept under the carpet! All these vapour-dates they give or imply are just draining. The Hull C was put in the game before the relevant cargo trading gameplay loop was even feasible so there's a good chance that even if the Pioneer makes it into the game in the next 12 months the relevant gameplay loops will either be completely bare-bones and barely functional or simply not in the game. And what about dropships? What gameplay loops are they meant to facilitate again? Also, they're going to have to get land claims and bases working within the server meshing framework which could continue to be a dev bottleneck.

No the pioneer should not be sold as is off the pledge store, it’s a limited hull ship and apart of the F5 war. It’s meant to be limited, if they start selling a limited hull series now then they’ll have to open up the idris, hull e, 890 jump too

Insurance was implemented to increase realism in the game, not serve as a platform to weaponize and gouge players further. CIG changing how insurance works in the game for the first time in 12 years was extremely dumb decision. Especially on the heels of the ATLS fiasco. I'm going to make a few predictions here. First, I'm fully expecting CIG will be quickly releasing a clarification as they are being bombarded on the matter. Secondly, I feel this was an attempt to offer tiered insurance as part of their subscription platform strictly to maintain the "decorations" portion of player ships. This feels haphazard and rushed, there were even spelling mistakes on the slides summarizing these changes at Citcon. Personally, I've been completely put off by their conduct with this. It's created huge confusion and worry from backers. Proper thing to do here is give existing backers what they want and be fully transparent about their intentions.

Thats to say I dont think its a big deal. Now im sure the next point is "well we still want monster hunting" but as far as I know that wasnt even a feature we were expecting.
