It took about double the time to actually receive, but the official SpaceX Starlink cable routing kit is a great, simple to use, purchase for Starlink owners.

I ordered my Starlink on Sept. 1, 2021 and "finally" received it on June 30, 2022. "TEN (10) MONTHS later. Yet I have two friends that received their Starlink in three (3) weeks.

Depends on location…I live in LA so it took 18mo for me. If you live in the middle of the remote woods far from civilization, you’re prob getting it real fast. STARLINK does not want to concentrate users in specific areas at this time as they send up more satellites…

They used to supply a cardboard tube to help get the cable through the insulation in the wall so this is an upgrade.

what's that box you are holding at 4:59 ? why is there a coax cable at 3:52 ? my starlink only has ethernet 🤷♀

I bought the kit and it installs very easy but my next door neighbor wants the same type of hole through his wall and all we need since I have the kit is the two 3/4 inch gromets. Where do you find them without buying the 46 dollar kit?

I live in a state where I deal with really harsh winters and I live in a tiny house with not the greatest insulation. Does this hole let in a lot of air?
@Abyssdiver2 жыл бұрын
I would not think so it is sealed with the rubber grommets as well silicone. I live in America's original tiny home an old single wide and have a couple holes drilled in for various projects and the air stays the same. Cheers!

Is there anyway I can install this without putting holes in my house? My house is wired with DSL. Thank you!
@leewhitmore53502 жыл бұрын
DSL wiring is much different from Cat6 wiring. I have to abandon my thin DSL wiring and punch a hole in my siding (hence the drill bits) to reach my office. The included clips for the Cat6 wire are only five (5). I bought more to run with the siding on my house.

Yes you can but it is ugly to run it through roof louvers (and pops screens there) also through a crawlspace door... you get the idea. Punching a hole in your house is the way it has been done for many years its your best bet and looks the nicest (believe it or not) versus a cable running all around the home to avoid this. All TV Cable providers do this just find your current hole and use it. I imagine if you built some sort of climate controlled exterior casing you could place a wireless Router outside the home and a bridge inside. but again way to hard for avoiding common practice (and would need a hole to bring power to the outside possibly lol)
@donhyatt80342 жыл бұрын
The router is actually rated for exterior use so YES you can set it up outside and receive your wifi inside

This doesn’t work for the newer system because there is a different cable end. It is not Ethernet.

Yeah my connection is a micro usb at a 90 degree angle. How the hell do they expect you to run that cable through your home discreetly?

So a cat6 and coax is necessary?
@leewhitmore53502 жыл бұрын
100 feet of Cat6 wire comes with the Starlink dish kit to provide the dish power and data. His coax is for a different service.

Is this permanent?
@leewhitmore53502 жыл бұрын
It can be permanent or temporary. With the base kit, it can be temporary and just sit the satellite dish on a chair or table. Not very stable, but it can work with its low profile tripod.
@stevenshook33482 жыл бұрын
Competitive pricing? $24 for two plastic grommets, one drill bit, and one spade bit is astronomically expensive. You can purchase all three of these at a hardware store for $8 to $10 depending on the quality of the bits.

useless for gen 2, cable very odd big shape
@Kiya-me2 жыл бұрын
Wow! So you pretty much have to be a technician to get the dish up? Ridiculous! They should offer installation like all other normal companies do. How do you fasten it to the roof? We get really bad wind and could fly off easily. I guess they're limiting the costumers to construction savy people..... obviously not for me or my 73 year old husband.
@leewhitmore53502 жыл бұрын
This is a self-install kit. It come with a low-profile tripod base. Optionally there is a roof mount kit, pipe adapter kit, and a ground pole mount. Just about any general contractor can perform the exterior installation for you.

I would think you could hire a young kid to do the work and supervise. It is very easy not rocket science!
