A trick I use to seed any kind of squash or get the last vestiges of mango off the seed etc., etc., is to use a grapefruit spoon. I have one grapefruit spoon that I keep just for 'odd jobs'! I like your version of that dish better than mine, I think I put too much tomato sauce in mine although I do like maybe 1 Italian sausage sliced into rounds in it and maybe a bit of grated parma cheese on top.

we use spaghetti squash quite a bit...it's definitely one of my fave ingredients...spaghetti squash strands would never be mistaken for actual pasta, but they do the trick for all kinds of recipes, and it's not a bad buy for all the use you can get out of one squash

Nice, colorful dish. Thanks, Chef Buck! For me, spaghetti squash is an occasional treat, since it involves a bit more fuss than I usually apply to cooking for one person. I tend to favor yellow squash, zucchini and patty-pan (flying saucer) squashes that can just be cut up and steamed in the microwave. I agree with Hoky Poky that this dish seems to ask for some Italian sausage slices and grated Parmesan. But since CB kept the seasoning simple, it would accommodate a variety of protein add-ins and spices. Also, If you cook enough of it to leave left overs I think it would make a nice filling for crepes or omelettes.

I almost always have leftovers since we get so much squash out of a spaghetti squash...but you're definitely right about other squash being less time consuming...I doubt I'd fool with spaghetti squash if I was just cooking 1 meal for myself

I make a casserole with spaghetti squash that is to die for. Best and easiest way to cook spaghetti squash to prepare for cooking is this: Prick whole squash all over, and place on cookie sheet at 400 for and hour. Wait 15 minutes and cut lengthwise. So simple! Now you can get those long strands of sp squash really fast and easy with a fork! Try it that way; you’ll never do it any other way!
@ChefBuckRecipes3 жыл бұрын
prick the outside and bake before slicing? like a baked potato? I've never tried roasting an entire spaghetti squash in that manner--I will definitely give it a go!

On this one, you took out the seeds after cooking. You video from 2017 you took them out before cooking. Which is easier? I've always done it before, but wonder if it might be easier taking them out after. Taking the seeds out is the worst part of it. Thanks Buck!
@ChefBuckRecipes3 жыл бұрын
I do it either way...I actually prefer taking the seeds out before, but sometimes I forget (it's harder scooping the seeds out of a raw squash, but I prefer it to scooping the seeds out of a hot squash...I could wait for the squash to cool more, but when I'm in cooking mode I generally don't wait more than I have to do.)

sliced cherry tomatoes would work and still hold up well, especially if you added them later in the dish...I like my spaghetti squash done but definitely not overdone...you can cook it past the crunchiness, but if you go to far the squash can get mushy
