Don't worry about the honey. Spanish honey contrary to USA (+90%) honey is not pasteurized (unlike the raw honey from Costco), therefore it isn't liquid shelf stable. It will crystallize but easily remediated once treated with heat, same as maple syrup. The addition of corn syrup will prevent crystallization; this is why honey at McDonald's (or any other individually packaged honey) will never crystallize. Next time, simply dunk the honey pouch in warm/hot water several minutes as to reconstitute it glucose/maltose (melt it). 😂😂😂

@@tireballastserviceofflorid7771 never assume pure honey to be raw honey or pasteurized. Pure has no legal ramifications in the USA in the food industry. Raw honey is (and has never been) liquid shelf stable as glucose crystalizes whereas pasteurization transforms its glucose and maltose bonds to render it liquid shelf stable. The life expectancy is not under question, I am simply explaining why the honey in this mre pack has separated and how to remediate it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

In 2015, archaeologists reported that they'd found 3,000-year-old honey while excavating tombs in Egypt, and it was perfectly edible. This durability is thanks to the unique features of honey: it is low in water and high in sugar, so bacteria cannot grow on, So I think that Honey is still good xD

@HeathenTrucker Fructose and glucose are the primary components of real honey. The region it comes from can change the flavor due to different plants, since honey comes from bees when they collect pollen. There’s even honey that can get you high. That being said, there is a lot of fake honey.

I've only had 2 ravaged MREs... a French 8 hour and that same Spanish one. They confiscated the main and the pate out of the french one and the main and pate out of the spanish one... completely tore up the pachaging too and half ass taped it up. The French main was some kind of dish made from Deer. I think it was called deer taurine, and the Spanish one was oysters or something in some kind of sauce. Both had Pate cans which were probably pork liver. All I got was a cool OD can of peaches in the spanish ration with a chocolate and some biscuits and same with the French one, chocolate mous, biscuits, and a fruit bar. But they never touched the Russian ones when I ordered those, they had Dove meat, god knows what else... stuff I wouldn't feed my cat or my dog.

Tastes and textures, like the honey, the jams and the hazelnut paste, and the cocoa, they taste differently because any product based in the EU does not have the same pasteurization methods of the US, or added stuff like starch and similar, lower levels of salt, sugar, and around here we just add the salt or the sugar we want in food in our kitchens, the food is bland for someone used to eating in the US except when it is specifically mentioned in the food. American friends have mentioned to me that even McDonalds or other fast food "tastes differently", bread, eggs and milk are different, our milk goes sour after a couple of days, quicker if not refrigerated, all because there is a minimal of preservatives and chemicals, sugar and salt in food stuffs, but you can still add whatever sugar and salt you want, in your plate. My brother that was in the army for some time, liked to sweet his cocoa or coffee with honey, and that looks like good honey. "Tostada" is a staple cookie in Portugal and Spain, its a cookie cooked and "double toasted" to last longer and be crunchy, and the sweet kind is more common, with the equivalent to a cracker in the salted or savoury variety of cookies to eat with spreads. Those issues, like the maximum salt and sugar permitted in food, varies according to the country, but it has a maximum level all over the EU, in limits considered safe by the health authorities EU wide. Good video, and loved the vintage cutlery

Enjoy watching your videos. When you are doing a US MRE please do them properly. You don't put the main in the heater pack, you put water in and slide it and the main into the cardboard sleeve. If you put water into the hot beverage bag it can be heated up with the heater also. Water in heater doesn't need to touch any of the pouches.

This honey-milk powder+sugar combo is from newer spanish breakfast MREs and doesn't seem to be working well. Older ones had just 3 generous sweetened condensed milk satchets instead. You just added it to the water and mixed with the cocoa (or coffee, or cereals) and you were done. You could even use it as a spread with the biscuits. No extra sugar or creamer needed. Breakfast in Spain is usually meant to be consumed fast and give you a boost of energy. There are savory alternatives (like the popular toast with tomato spread and olive oil) but most people will go the sweet way and have just some coffee w/milk and a sweet treat. Dipping biscuits or a toast in the coffee is common. This is specially popular among young people, so I suppose army wants soldiers to get up and running fast with this menu.

You can use the fuel tablets with the stove indoors. I've been doing it for several months now an I'm still alive. If you read the instructions, it says it is fine to use indoors as long as the area is well ventilated. I put the stove under my range hood that vents outside. Just opening a window would be adequate for those things. You don't want to use them inside a tank with all the hatches closed, or deep in a cave. There are people that are afraid to start up a flameless ration heater indoors. Yeah they stink, but it's not that bad at all. Smells like electronics running. Funny because that's exactly what it is, hydrogen gas. It would take about 10 of those things going off at the same time inside a coffin to actually kill you. There is fear, which is fine. Then there is ignorance and misinformation, which is A LOT worse.
