Stewart: I have been on three different tours of Spain (9-11 nights in length each) where we travelers were housed in 4 or 5 stars hotels, all of which provided full English breakfasts each morning. Since my tour groups were mostly Americans, we are accustomed to that style of large morning meals when on holiday trips. While they may not be common in hotels frequented by mostly Spanish travelers, the types of dishes served were similar and very filling. I am still adjusting to seeing platters of fried tomatoes which are customary in Britain, New Zealand and Australian hotels (as opposed to American restaurants). Since we are traveling on buses most of the days, having a large breakfast helps get us through the day until we find a decent meal since most of the restaurants we encounter before 7 pm can’t accommodate 35 guests at once. I usually opt for tapas bars/menus in the evenings.

I was in Benidorm in 2019 and decided to have some Pommie fare and had a visually appealing English breakfast. I was as sick as a dog for 24 hours. The first time in 10 visits to Spain that I had food poisoning. I've stuck to Spanish cuisine ever since.

One thing I don’t understand is why people pay such high rents in NYC. I have friends who do that. I live in Aberdeen, NJ, and I bought a house for $600k. My mortgage is $3,300 a month. I have 3 bedrooms, a home office, a two-car garage, and the train station is 5 minutes away. I live 40 minutes from NYC. So why live in NYC? It’s not like your commute time is shorter.

You can easily get an “English breakfast” here on the Costa del Sol, but I have my doubts about the bacon. If I’m out for breakfast I prefer the baguette with tomato and olive oil, with or without cured ham.

In my experience people don't drink cubatas in the morning but in all the regions where I have lived I found it very common for people to take una copita de anis o de conac with their cafelito early in the morning before starting work. Not so much for office workers though. Usualy manual workers, drivers and market and industrial workers.

It's hard to add any Andalusian dialect to Barcelona actually. The city name is mostly unaffected, except by those making C's and Z's, S's; perhaps some areas of Seville, Cadiz and maybe Malaga. Some areas of Granada they may replace the C-Z-TH sound with a Hh kind of grunted anglo saxon 'H'! But I think mostly Barcelona, is pronounced, "Barcelona"! 😅 with a 'TH' for Thumb! or Spanish Z , due to the C being in front of an 'e' (the 'i' , would trigger the same rule), of course you know this Stu, but I thought interesting to share for others ;) 🖖

Hey Stu, good job I live in a 10k SQM olive grove plantation in Guadalcanal Sevilla. Supermarkets are an average of 10€ per litre for good virgin local Guadalcanal olive oil which is delicious, yum yum on your desayuno Espanol, be great if the prices of oil goes down 👏 Most likely we'll have a supermarket run on Olive oil on the run up to the end of 2024 mate 😂, best regards Marco 😉👊🇬🇧🇪🇦 Viva Betis👊🍻

Here in England dog mess is left by younger folk i reckon , and i think there is a social class element

@@anthonyferris8912 there’s no one to confront! They kick their dogs out twice a day - morning and night - dogs do their business then go home. Local police are related or friends so not interested. The mayor lives elsewhere so not interested. It’s a health issue as well as extremely unsightly.

I get my English / Irish breakfast fix in Nerja, I get quite excited when I know I am going (2-3 times a year) but apart from that I do not miss it and prefer Spanish. Never seen a cafe serving English / Irish breakfast in Granada.

@garyrandall7364 I suspect the vast majority of people like myself only have a full fryup when staying at a hotel. Muesli fruit and yogurt is more than enough for me.

Amazing that Spain has a VAT on food . Is Alejandro Mayorkas doing double duty in the US and Spain? Spain better get a handle on the immigration issue as should the US. I am an immigrant and had to go thru the process and did not cross a border of another country illegally. These are not immigrants they are invaders.
