@@user-zc5ft9nw9b I disagree. Spandau in their day were an average teenybop band with one number one record in the UK called True. I don't recall one person at School or outside of school ( showing my age!) who liked Spandau. They liked Wham! George Michael, some liked Duran Duran and Madonna and Genisis and Peter Gabrial and U2. They were admired by people in their late teenage years and early twenties. I think it was those suits! Spandau had Gary Kemp. He was the talent. Honestly they are so overrated.I have read about court cases that are involving copyright and royalties and fallouts in this band. They say it is common in bands but the impression given back in the day is they were such good pals. You couldn't imagine that they'd have these business issues years later.

I'll never forget meeting Tony Hadley, I was nineteen years old, in the army and on my first tour (of Bosnia). He had come out to perform for the soldiers as part of a moral boosting thing. Being the modest guy that he is, he had decided to put combat 95's on with a WO1 rank slide and a RLC berret. Me being a naive teenager walked past him siting with a large group of soldiers, and I decide to brace up and say "good afternoon sir" (which was custom when confronted with someone of that rank, especially as a private). Of course everyone burst out with laughter to my astonishment, and he introduced himself to me in a casual cockney way. A great guy and a great performer, I'll never forget him singing this song in a hanger in Sipovo.

The seventies and eighties were truly brilliant,the song's ,so many,the attitude and our sense of us! We did it,felt it,went to work,loved with honest hearts and still respected Mum and Dad. And those were the best times,without rancour or predudice. We just got on with it,loved and lost and he we are, had our "rebellion" and realised life is for living,memories of youth,old photos and the one by your side.Life is so finite,wring it by the neck untill it has nothing more to give....only then go quietly into the night.

i think the whole song is about his celebration of his lover's return. and by "your love is like a high prison wall" means that the love somewhat confined him, but also forcibly make him standing tall, eager to look beyond the wall. and thus, he's feeling really alive again.
@myhumbleopinion10366 жыл бұрын
I think standing tall has to do with a man's anatomy/sexual desires....maybe a challenge turns him on (a high prison wall/a woman who is not easy, a woman who requires some brain work to woo).....imho
