In Argentina, the way we distinguish the B from V when spelling is simply by calling them be larga (B) and ve corta (V).

WOW This was extremely helpful. Although I do speak Spanish, I haven't had to use it in years. Now that I'm working in an office where 90% of our clients speak Spanish, I realized I didn't know how to spell my name in order to give out my e-mail address and with a Y and a V in my name, I was so confused lol. This video truly was the best one out of all that I watched at explaining the alphabet and sounds. Thank You. You just made my job easier.

Decent little video ... it would have been really good just to do a run through of the whole alphabet again at the end, or just before you do the wee practice questions. BTW , the way that I remember the "x" letter sound ("equis") is that, in English, we use the letter "x" to indicate a kiss in written texts ,etc... so the "x" letter sound can be thought of as "a kiss" ....

Thank you. I’ve been struggling with the alphabet pronunciation. I hadn’t thought of practicing how to spell my name. Really obvious stuff now you mention it😂. Z confuses me, I thought it was pronounced “th” like in “lupez” and C confuses me too as sometimes it’s also pronounced “th” as in “cerveza”. Is there a tip to remember these ones?

I'm puzzled by how you say the double L of Maxwell and the CH of Zach. I know you don't include letter names for CH or LL here but other Spanish teachers mention them as additional letters 'che' and 'elle'. So wouldn't Maxwell end in elle, not ele ele? And Zach end in che, not ce hache? Perhaps it is good to separate it to encourage the correct pronunciation? But presumably Charlie would say his name started with a 'che', rather than 'ce hache'? I wonder if this is all down to regional differences.
@realfastspanish3 жыл бұрын
"Ch" and "ll" tend to be sounds (digraphs), instead of letters, very similar to "ch" in English. I see how this can be confusing because in some cases these digraphs are included in the Spanish alphabet, even though they aren't letters. If you stick to using letters e.g. "ele, ele", this is totally fine, you'll be understood by Spanish natives everywhere you go.

@marionardechia15794 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew! Very cool videos!.. Best Regards!
@realfastspanish4 жыл бұрын
@marionardechia15794 жыл бұрын
Cheers!

I thought I was tripping when I recently found out that a lot of people use 'uve' as the name for V, since I could have sworn I had learned as a kid that B and V had basically identical names (hence the old distinguisher "V de vaca o B de burro?"). I guess 'uve' is a more recent invention, or was just widely adopted more recently?

It is the way it has been called in Spain allways . It makes more sense since u and v where the same in the roman alphabet .

En latín la u y v eran la misma letra. Uve significa U que suena BE.
