The wonderful thing about these lessons is we get to see both sides of the language. Gordon speaks fluent English he is English born. And Cynthia speaks fluent Spanish she is Spanish born. It’s an advantage to look at Spanish through English eyes and Spanish eyes. I’ve taken lessons from native Spaniards and English teachers and Gordon and Cynthia are the best.

I like Gordon's slight North East English accent. I'm from Lancashire and like regional accents. Once went on a week long summer school course at Keele Uni where the accent was wall to wall RP. By the Wednesday my mum and I had to escape and had lunch in a local cafe. It was so refreshing to listen to the 4 or 5 people in there each using a slightly different version of the local accent. RP en masse is like living within taupe.

Thank you so much for your video. I’ve been struggling with this idea using lectures and notes from uni. I watched your 10 minuet video and scored 10/10 straight away afterwards. Very good explanation of the use hace, desde hace and desde

so "hace diez años" is kinda like a prepositional phrase in english, at least in word order, while "ago", an adverb, kinda forms it's own adverbial/postpositional phrase in english. that's at least what I drew from that exchange there. hope I'm close, adiós!

Thanks so much for your videos. The three concepts have always confused me, and thanks to you both, it is much more clearer. I was wondering if the same concepts apply with situation when you would like to express that you have not done something for a long time... such as Hace mucho tiempo que no juego el ajedrez?

Enjoy your videos. Just a couple of suggestions: (@4:29) Hace 10 años que trabajo aquí = I've been working here for 10 years, not, 10 years ago I am working here. When "hace" = ago, it refers to a point in the past of X years. When "hace" = for, it refers to the duration of time from X years up to the present. Also the "s" in Spanish is a voiceless phoneme, so "desde" cannot be voiced throughout. The woman is saying it perfectly. Cheers

Great! So, can you also use desde to say from somewhere, such as I'm writing this from KZbin, "desde KZbin", or you know me from Facebook, "me conoces desde FB"? =)
@LightSpeedSpanishChannel
@LightSpeedSpanishChannel 11 жыл бұрын
Your first sentence is great. In the second it would be better to say, "Me conoces de Facebook" if not, it would be like saying, "You know me since we met in Facebook." You can also say: "Trabajo desde casa" = I work from home. Things like that. Espero que esto te haya ayudado. :)

You can pronounce the consonant c in two ways, just like you can in English. It all depends on what letter follows it. A c in front of the vowels a, o, or u or any consonant but h sounds like the English k. The letter k designates this sound the pronunciation brackets: colocar (koh-loh-kahr) (to put) ocaso (oh-kah-soh) (sunset) When the letter c is in front of the vowels e or i, it sounds like the English s. In the pronunciation brackets, this sound is signaled as s: acero (ah-seh-roh) (steel) dulce (dool-seh) (sweet) why does it sound as though you are speaking with a lisp and saying it with a "T"? Anyway besides that your videos are explaining so much and are helping me with my "duolingo" spanish lessons.
@TheMaru666
@TheMaru666 5 жыл бұрын
She is Spanish and he learnt Spanish in Spain . Standard European Spanish does ce , ci za , zo, zu , with a th sound . It is not a lisp , is the regular way to do it in Spain.
