As a native spanish speaker, this class is useful to native english speakers, sometimes can be a little difficult to understand when we speak but there are many podcasts to train listening, I recommend spotify. It depends on the area but the Spanish that Paul teaches is Mexican Spanish, as a chilean spanish speaker, we speak in x2 speed. Anyway, thx paul

Thanks again Paul. I really look forward to each new Monday lesson. I just wrapped up level 6 in your course and Whew!!! Those irregular verbs were a challenge. But, I know how very important they are and you did a great job making them relatable to real conversations. I know I've reached the point of throwing in the towel or speaking Spanish. I choose to speak Spanish. I'm so happy to learn in a way that works for me. You're a great teacher, thanks so much!

Correct. Spanish does not use the gerund (viviendo, comiendo, hablando, etc.) after prepositions. It requires the infinitive (vivir, comer, hablar, etc.) instead.

I'm new at trying to learn Spanish. How do you determine male and female nouns?
@JimCAScr7 жыл бұрын
Glenn, its not always true, but usually nouns ending with o are male and 'a' are female. For example, la casa is female, el teatro is male. However, for many nouns, you just have to learn them through repetition since many don't end in o or a and sometimes that rule doesn't even work.

Is `To live or not to live` as straightforward in Spanish as it is in English ? " It is certain in English. But is "Vivir o no vivir" as certain in Spanish as `To live or not to live,` "To be or not To Be" in Spanish ? I understand the Subjunctive hardly exists in modern English.
@navneetjoshi57587 жыл бұрын
You pronounced vivir as pipir. Is this true for all V ?

I usually hear it is supposed to be sounded like a "b" in English - so like "bibir" in your example. and from what I understand, it is for all "v"s
@cellgrrl7 жыл бұрын
I was taught that v's are pronounced like a soft b. He says it with a much stronger b sound. But that could have to do with the type of Spanish that he speaks, such as Castilian vs. Latin American.
