5 years of Ultimate without a lot of attention to Squad Strike in tourneys has been a huge missed opportunity. I feel like the meta could be really interesting because there's so much potential for cool counterpick strategies with how you set your character line up. I think it would allow a lot of mid tier characters to shine because some of them are very good in certain match ups, even if they lose to most top tiers. such a cool game mode that no one seems to care about, and we cant even play it online which sucks.

Squad strike was never taking anything away from it, and weird that you said 1v1s because squad strike is still a 1v1, and I definitely think squad strike is more entertaining than doubles which get too much attention in my opinion.

I think people focus way too much on the character. Plant was and is not as good as other characters but Ultimate is balanced enough that no character is weak enough to be completely unviable in every competitive matchup. The key behind the success here is the caliber of the player who has picked Plant up, not that Plant was "always good". Spargo's not reinventing the plant meta, he is just executing it beautifully.

For one, the mode isn't playable online for whatever reason - even in arenas - so lower level players have less exposure to it and it's harder for more competitive players to practice it. Similar to certain hazard toggle shenanigans, Squad strike is not commonly played because of poorly thought out UI.
