Great idea for spark plug looms!! I havent seen nothing that original since the night I called my dad to help me get my truck home because the alternator belt broke.. 30 years ago I watched my dad make me a temporary alternator belt out of a pair of panty hose just to get it home until the parts store opened the next morning..That was the day I knew MacGyver didn't have anything on my dad!!

Great tip Chris! Always like it when you can make something neater. One pointer that I could offer, is that instead of cutting the zip tie with the diagonal pliers, use a pair of "side cutter" pliers. Grad the tie by the tip of the pliers and twist until it breaks off. That way you will not have a sharp edge and it breaks off flush. Learned this being an electrician for 40 years. Tom

I would have never thought to use zip ties like this as I always carry a whole bunch of various sizes and colors. Great video and I just learned something today because my '96 Silverado has some of the spark plug wire clips broken. I just ordered new spark plug wires high performance and it came with clips but in a bind or a pinch and to last a while the zip tie trick is amazing. Thank you for sharing it I never would have thought.

Love This! I was working on my '65 mustang and the ding dong before me... Hope it wasn't you Dad, used zip ties to just pin all the wires together... Knowing that ignition wires leak NEVER DO THAT! The ignition wires should always have a little gap... This is the perfect fix! Even trying to buy the expensive original holder is a problem because you may not have the right diameter and the wires will ship... This idea will ensure you have a good snug fit... Great stuff... :-) Be Well...

Funny I know... I forgot to mention also, Try and guide your ignition wires AWAY from any metal... Engine block, Valve Covers, Frame, Motor Mounts Etc... bad enough when it gets wet under the hood don't make it worse by giving an ignition wire a chance to ground out on anything metal... :-) Be well...

Great idea,just wondering when it comes time to change those new wires with the ziptie loom. They looked so tight on to the point theirs no space in between to free the wires next time they need to be changed.
@Kman.8 жыл бұрын
It's not likely you have to change out spark plug wires 1st off. Secondly, if you had to free up just one wire, it's merely the smaller loop you change out. 3rdly, if you DID have to change 'em out, it's a matter of a few dollars should you need to replace the zip ties altogether. 4thly, there are reusable zip ties on the market.

my egr on my 97 explorer 4.0 well is it supost to air coming out of it when thje car is running
@chrisfix10 жыл бұрын
A lot of times the egr is controlled by a solenoid (vacuum regulated) so it only has air going though it when you are running at low load. You dont want a lot of air coming out of the EGR because it lowers performance. As long as you dont have a check engine light you should be good!
