@@SparkyStensaas Not this year, but it's on our list. We've birded the lower Rio Grand Valley - really enjoyed part 1 of your video of that trip. We're actually planning to visit Sax-Zim Bog this June. It will be our second visit, but our first real opportunity to explore the are in depth. We visited briefly on a 2018 trip to northeastern MN, but it was in the middle of a fairly long travel day. We arrived too late in the day and didn't have nearly enough time. This time, the trip is planned entirely around Sax-Zim, We are considering extending the trip west enough to visit the prairie potholes region though. We've only driven through that region on our way to TRNP, Yellowstone and Glacier,

Looks like a great leg of the trip. Some awesome places to hit even if you don't find anything. We cruise Stateline a lot, never knew about Willow's Tank. Is that on the west or east side of the road? Cool birds and snakes in this one. I hit the portal area several times last year, but the monsoon was waiting for me each time.

Thank you! Willow tank is just up Sulphur Canyon Road west off State Line Road south of Rodeo. I see by your handle that you are into herps. I have been getting more and more into that lately. Several lifer herps on this trip. Will have a few more in Part 3!

@@SparkyStensaas Ahh, I've been over there, just never paid attention to the name. Ha! Yes, we've been doing the herp thing for quite a while now. As you already know, AZ is definitely one of the premiere places for birds and herps. Hoping for another monsoon like we had last year. Look forward to part 3.

Enjoyed birds & scenery & towns of Arizona, in 1983 vacationed with my Aunt June(Neilsen) Patterson & Uncle David Patterson they loved Arizona & introduced me to Hummers. Drove me up to mountains with many trees, saw100+ hummers while sitting on picnic bench - wish knew name of place ( wonder if place you showed). They built the planet Observatory at the University of Arizona in Sierra Vista. A Freind & I rescue birds (& hummers) that hit the glass skyscrapers in Newark NJ, Most that hit the skyscrapers perish on impact, or when fall to cement. TRT made a video 'Window Strikes in the Business District' of us picking up injured Warblers. TRT nurses them back to health. Will be watching episode 3 as they also took me to Sonora park. Thanks again this video was so enjoyable !

Thank you Anita! Sounds like you had a very memorable time down in Southeast Arizona. The hummers are so much fun to watch since we only have one species here in the Midwest/East. Good luck with the window strike project!

Question: Do you lead birding/photo tours?
@SparkyStensaas
@SparkyStensaas 8 ай бұрын
Hi Jim, I am sorry… I don’t. I used to be a bird guide in the Sax-Zim Bog in Minnesota but I am now the Director of a nonprofit and also a publisher of field guides… No time! I can certainly recommend some guides or guiding companies that are high-end. Let me know if you want any recommendations for six areas. Thanks for inquiring!
