Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment! And thank you so much for lugging that camera around the whole time as well. It helps all of us know what to expect, which helps us to be better prepared. You rock!

Thank you and hope it helps to study the course. Turned out to be a lot more gripping obstacles than initially realized.

Great video! What’s the penalty for missed obstacle in the ultra?
@rem6a Жыл бұрын
Great question and they change up the penalties every so often. Recently no burpees and designated penalty loop.
@speechandfeedingkids6715 Жыл бұрын
I hope thats the case. Penalty loop sounds way better than burpees. Thanks!

Hello and congratulations on your ULTRA.. I did my first ULTRA in Dallas and Ill be going for the ULTRA 2020 in NJ. Coming from South Texas, How was the weather, and how bad are those hills or slope? Thank you in advance for your suggestions..Great video!!
@rem6a5 жыл бұрын
Hector Martinez nice work completing the Dallas Ultra and best of luck in NJ. East coast weather is very unpredictable. I would plan for wet and cold but gear for warm. Eventually people stop running and the body gets cold (heart rate dips). Copy and paste the following link for corse elevation. strava.app.link/91EldVaQV2 Best of luck and let me know if I can help with gear suggestions.

Thanks so much for the video! I just signed up for the April 2020 Ultra. What were the cut off times like, close ? I’m worried about how fast the first lap needs to be. Thanks
@rem6a5 жыл бұрын
Glad you found the video and hope it helps better understand the course. Best of luck in 2020!! I wouldn’t attack the course with fear of time as a factor. Just prepare as much as possible for keeping a consistent pace with hills. If you train enough, you should be good to finish with plenty of time left. Let me know if I can help in any way. Good luck!

Dude you don’t even look tired when you finished! how?

Thanks but camera misses the exertion of the entire course. After the second sandbag I was dragging up the big hill. Just kept pushing knowing we had a finish line approaching.

Nice job. Thanks for the video. Did you have to repeat obstacles and do multiple laps? Or was the coarse that long ?
@rem6a5 жыл бұрын
Harry Grimley Thanks. The first lap had a special cut out for the Ultra Beast. I believe it added 4 miles additional to the original Beast course. We also had 3 additional obstacles to complete (we came back on course at the spear throw). Otherwise it was the Beast Course twice.

@@rem6a what keeps it on ur back with out moving so much?
@rem6a5 жыл бұрын
Slashwrist the camelbak holds it and keeps it from moving around. Head, chest, wrist and shoulder mounted setups are too bouncy or only capture smaller frames. This setup since 2007 has worked the best for me.
@jsony05 жыл бұрын
@@rem6a is it possible that you can make a video on your setup? i have a camelbak but i have no idea how to setup a gopro on it with a stick and keep it from moving like in your video.

Damn I miss this. Was my first Spartan Race as a whole and just wanted to see if I could do it so I tried the beast no prep time. 7-8 hours later pulled it off. Went on to get the trifecta that year. Really miss doing these. No covid, no bs, just you, the course, whatever pals you're able to get up off their ass, and the folks around ya. Sorry to say Killington of September 11th 2021 may have been my last hurrah, since it only takes one fuckwit not getting tested to screw over your shot of doing anything athletic in the future. Unless there's a shortcut for mitigating asthma or something, that'll be a ducking miracle since I sure as hell wasn't before. Nowadays can't run a damn mile without doubling over from my lungs telling me to go F myself and feeling like I'm getting stabbed with a rusty serrated kitchen knife. Anyone got any ideas on how to get around that? Too many doors are closed because my current inability to do as much as I used to.

Sorry to hear about the breathing issues. Any thought of attempting a Sprint first, walk the course and see how you feel? Lots of friendly racers willing to help when needed.
