Cersei's conversations with Sansa is some of the best stuff in the series. Cersei rides the edge of the line between genuinely feeling sorry for Sansa and giving her good advice because she sees pieces of Sansa in herself when she was younger, and wanting to make her feel unsafe and extremely uncomfortable with some of the stuff she says because she's a sadist who hates the Starks.

@@nikolaykomissarenko7822 But that's maybe also part of why he is trying to get Catelyn to do it. He knows that if she kills him, the consequences of his death will be greater than if some lowly bannerman kills him. Not only will his own family's revenge for him be grander, as they can't be appeased by something like said lowly bannerman's head, he will also have personally succeeded in creating as much discord in Robb's camp and as much damage to his cause as possible. Although he won't live to see it, he'll at least die knowing that he's actively sabotaging his enemies doing it. And he would've been correct, as evidenced by the fact that Catelyn going unpunished for betrayal while Lord Karstark was denied his revenge against Jaime caused such great internal conflict in Robb's camp that it led directly to Robb's defeat.

I like that awkward moment between Cersei and Tyrion - maybe it's just me but I feel he finally sees what Jaime sees, and she looks at him - not as a lover, but as a brother finally, and not a monster, and she's a little scared of what she feels for him in that moment. It's a great bit of acting between the two of them. If you ever get the chance to listen to the DVD commentaries, Lena and Peter are always great together. (As are Maisie, Sophie and Isaac.) And another great piece of acting from Alfie Allen at the end, so many emotions in his face, including shame.

@markharris11252 жыл бұрын
@@ben1ben2ben1 Yes, exactly. I couldn't quite remember how much they showed. But that moment is very interesting. I've always wondered if it was scripted like that or if Peter and Lena just decided to play it that way?

The warlocks of Qarth are magic practitioners. Their magic is connected to dragons. So, with dragons gone for thousands of years, their magic is also gone and they became a joke in society whom nobody took seriously anymore. And when Daenerys arrived in Qarth with her dragons, the warlocks' magic also returned. This is why they want to keep the dragons and imprison Daenerys as she is the mother of dragons.
@zoefezius66152 жыл бұрын
yeah, one can rewatch Bran and Master Lewin in episode 3 here - Lewin tells that he studied the higher mysteries, but as a 1000 boys before him he couldn't make it happen. As dragons died out years before, magic has faded away from westeros... so the theory. Magic is has also almost gone in Essos and Quarth, as the magic usin warlocks have only a reputation of swindlers and tricksters (someone told them when they moved into quarth) and there house is only the house of ashes any more... but with the dragons back, they can do proper magic again... so they want them and Dany to keep them alive....

In the books it's not Littlefinger that reveals the story of the Hound getting burned to Sansa, it's the Hound himself that tell the story to Sansa. It's after a big party/celebration, Joffrey tell the Hound to accompagnied Sansa to her quarters and on their way there, they have a big conversation. Hound tells her she is spoiled, etc...then tell her his story, how he was burned and so forth. And Sansa feels bad for the Hound and pitty. She completely changes her mind about him. And an interesting connection between the two starts. BTW Pudgey getting red over the pronounciation of Jaqen Hagar made me crack up 😆

By now, it's no secret that repeated brutality is a theme of this show. What the plot provides is an exploration of what that repeated brutality does to the personalities and emotions of the characters. How do they react to it? How does it change their views of the world and how they treat others? Does it make them stronger or break them down? The kinds of reactions we have to the executions of Ned and Ser Rodrik are magnified in the characters that lose their mentors and loved ones. All the character arcs reflect the brutality, and it's interesting to trace the changes. BTW/I have watched a fair few GoT reactions, and I am coming to respect yours as the most diligent, most well-thought out and comprehensive explorations of character and storyline that I have seen. It is what has kept me coming back for each episode. You guys could be fiction editors or showrunners yourselves.

Two very compelling sides to Daenerys: 1) her compassionate, gentle soul and 2) her passionate fiery personality. So much of her inner character conflict is struggling to balance both. She wanted to take the iron throne and claim her birthright, but remember that her initial motive was that she wanted to go home. She's ambitious and trying to learn how to become a ruler, this stemmed from her desire to protect her people. She's a nurturer and a protector both. This manifests in how she interacts with her dragons this season. Also not incidental that that the two titles she's earned displays this duality: Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi of the Dothraki Just finished watching your reactions to episode 6 & 7. You're doing very well. Don't worry about pronounciation of names and stuff like that, your understanding of the characters are much more valuable. Rewatching this season with both of you was wild, so excited to see your reactions to the rest of the season!

on Jamie in thos situation u gotta see that he's a prisoner of war of 1 of the most powerful families in westeros.... its been months. for him he'll do ANYTHING to get out and escape. so ye it's really brutal but u can understand it from his point of view the moment between cersei and tyrion is so genuine and it's great writing. it really shows they understand what's happening and that they truly have to play a game to manage in this kingdom

Good stuff! On the pronunciations: My wife and I read the book long before the HBO series came out. Probably around 2005 or so. And when we would get together and talk about them my wife would constantly go "Who?" when I would mention a character. She was totally bewilders on who I was talking about most of the time, because I apparently do a poor job of pronouncing weird names in written form.... She would end up laughing. So don't worry about it - all part of the fun!
